Five miles, OUTSIDE. Outdoor runs really show me what a mental game the treadmill is. I can’t start a treadmill run faster than 11min/mi without feeling awful. Outside? 9:35/mi is an easy, comfortable pace. Whatever. Today was good. The weather is perfect, but I recommend avoiding the trails unless you have appropriate footwear (I don’t, so I stuck to the roads/sidewalks). #motherrunner#runlikeagirl#runlikeamother#oisellevolée#longrogas#altrarunning#zerodroprunning

8 sweaty hot miles for #sundayrunday. Can it be fall now? Just trying to survive this GA summer 😓. I hate drinking Gatorade and all those sugar and artificial food dye laden sports drinks but when I'm sweating this much its imperative I replace my salt. My solution? My homemade orange sports drink: 16 oz good 'ole H2O, 1 tablespoon sea salt, juice from 1/2 an orange (sometimes I'll do a splash of 🍍 juice to mix it up) and then drink up! *warning* it is pretty salty but I'm not really drinking it for the flavor. As long as you eat a diet rich in leafy greens, whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables, you only really need to worry about replacing salts. Try it out and see if it helps you like it's helped me!
The feeling of having to listen to your body and shorten your 11 miler down to 7 miles is never a good one. The climbs felt like trudging through mud, the humidity takes the hydration from you, but the strides post run felt heavenly.
I cannot be more thankful to be able to run like I do. Some runs don't turn out as I planned but then again, nothing else does either. So I'm good with the feeling of just getting out there and pounding out some miles regardless.
Now onto foam rolling, BCAA's, possibly some ice therapy, SLEEP, an easy recovery run tomorrow, and shooting for the long miles again in a few days.
Everything is just so green and alive right now! Spring is my absolute favorite🌷Logged 9 miles at a nice steady pace tonight with 6x30s strides at the end. The legs felt so heavy. I've been so tired at the end of this week. I know I have not been eating nearly enough protein or calories most days so I'm positive this is why. I've been trying to incorporate protein into every meal. What are some of your tips for keeping up with your protein consumption? Let me know in the comments below!
On my #runcommute home last night, amidst the pain of my calves, I came to the realization that I haven't switched out my shoes in a while. I'm so much a hiker when it comes to shoes. I think they are still worthy until my toes are popping out of holes or there is no tread left. But when running, it's so much more fine tuned then that. And maybe that's what my body's been trying to tell me all week. So I dug out these @newbalance#minimus shoes from the bottom of my closet. I ordered them last year before I realized that my feet aren't really made for women's athletic shoes. I tried them on and then took them right off. I'm so glad that I still had them laying around, because they really came in handy today. And weren't all that uncomfortable on a short run. Though the bright colors kept distracting me, and the run was still painful. But I blame the pain on running in worn out shoes all week. 😅
i had to resort to alternative shoes for my run today, the path has extremely rocky segments with tons of sharp rocks and crap. not good for my fivefingers. my toes has become used to live alone and i got a few blisters, nothing serious, as these shoes has a wider toebox, and a thicker vibram sole, 8mm. good for rocky runs to strengthen my ankle stability and my eyesight :-) #vibram#vibramsole#merrell#merrelbareaccess#injinjisocks#zerodropshoes#zerodroprunning
Leg day in my Merrell True Gloves....the thighs are in fire now; I don't even want to think about tomorrow.....

Although it's hard to tell, that shirt is absolutely drenched in two hours worth of sweat thanks to a one hour bootcamp class followed up by a one hour kickbox cardio class. My quads are on fire thanks to friggen non-stop squats. To say I'm gassed is an understatement. I think I'm going to just crawl into the fetal position and expire.
