Folsom Point to Brown’s Ravine. I am in love. Have a 35k coming up next month, and April is doing the 10k, so we ran her 10k course today-which is the first part of my race. Never ran the South side of Folsom lake before, but I will now! What amazing buttery trails.. heading back tomorrow to do the next chunk. #trailporn

Finally got my @vivobarefoot Primus HiViz in the mail today! 😃 First impressions:
👟 Toe box is not as wide as I thought it would be. It’s sufficient, but I think I expected even wider. 👞 The upper material is stiffer than I expected and kind of binds my foot on top when I bend my foot, but hopefully that will get more pliable and limber over time. I just hope it doesn’t crease and break.
👠 I’m enjoying the zero drop sole. I’m used to that with my @vibramfivefingers, and I got these VIVOBAREFOOT shoes so I could have something a little more socially acceptable for work. 🍜I think I might be redoing the laces so they come out over instead of under. That’s just my personal preference. 🙃
👍 Overall, I think I’m going to like them. They look nice. I’m excited to see if this helps the pain I’ve been having in my hip flexor when I’ve worn my shoes with a heel.
Really enjoyed the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. I felt a special connection to the philosophy of the Tarahumara. Got me feeling connected to my brown roots in this physical embodiment. Growing up in the US most of the super heros and individuals to inspire to were Caucasian. Not that there's anything wrong but I personally struggled to relate many times, especially during my middle and high school era. It's uplifting to see more diversity being represented in recent times. The major success of black panther movie is a good marker of how needed it was to represent a different demographic. So when I see real first hand accounts of amazing cultures of darker skin tones I can't help but feel uplifted almost as if they represented me personally. At the same time I don't wish to limit or isolate myself by chategorizing by the color of my skin. Understand we live in a global and universal family. They just inspire me and hope you get to know more about these awesome folks.
The Tarahumara - the hidden tribe of super-athletes. Isolated by the most savage terrain in North America, the reclusive Tarahumara Indians of Mexico’s deadly Copper Canyons are custodians of a lost art. For centuries they have practiced techniques that allow them to run hundreds of miles without rest and chase down anything from a deer to an Olympic marathoner while enjoying every mile of it. True inspirations 🙏
