#transformationtuesday straddle splits progress! Oh the possibilities. The top photo I was so embarrassed about that I never shared it... But now I am so happy to have it to be able to look back and see the growth! Some people ask why take photos of yourself doing yoga.. well here is a great reason.😉🤗
1 week before my flight to Ethiopia I found out that an external federal agency didn't complete my background investigation in time for my departure (yay federal backlog). I've accepted that this is out of my control and I've been grieving while getting back on my feet in Houston. .
For me, patience is understanding that this situation is out of my control. When my background check is complete, I'll find a new program. I don't have all the answers but I'm choosing to be patient while the universe sorts this out. .
(Patience also looks like telling ☝️🏽this story☝️🏽 100 times a day because I have that many people who love and care about me. 😂) .

In a day of firsts, another thing that happened today was my front calf hitting the floor for the first time in #splits. I probably COULD go even a tiny bit lower, but given my history of torn hamstrings, I'm taking it super slow here, and hoping the rest of the leg won't be too far behind! (Also, I'm like a nautical mile off the ground on my weak side, so let's gloss right over that.) This flexibility stuff is HARD, y'all. #2018goals

I’ve been looking forward to today’s #ayearofyoga2018 pose because I am excited to compare today with a year ago. While I still have progress to make I’ve been able to progress with #legbehindthehead poses to where it feels natural to me and I can practice both sides without props. I have just started to flow with this pose and integrate it into hybrid poses like arm balances and seated poses. I still can’t stand up in this pose. Maybe by 2019. 🙏🏽
The truth keeps coming this week. The wonderful @michellemalia_ connected with me about sharing my story on @vice. We chatted for a bit on the phone. As I told me story out loud it was unreal to hear it. But yet here it is. The world may now accept, judge or process. I’m not ashamed anymore. Im free.⠀
