What can I say…I love my sport, great weekend spent running around in circles with my ultra running family ❤ and many lessons learned. Officially my 20th ultra (not including those pesky DNFS) of which not a single thing went to plan. My second crack at 24 hours proved an immense challenge with severe heat stress during the day and yet another hospital visit during the early hours on Sunday. Just wanted to take the time to say thank you to everyone who shared the track out there and everyone who came along to cheer us on. I'll be doing it all over again soon!
Sunday fun day run with the Minerva Muses! Another beautiful weekend to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. The sunshine and fresh air is good for the mind, body, and soul. Great job to this fabulous group for starting their day off on the right foot and getting their miles in today! #minervarunning#runlocalwi#minervamuses#womensrunningcommunity#runsquad

50 Mile Week Baby!!!
That’s accumulated with just 5 awesome runs for the week! I haven’t hit that mileage since Marathon Training and I just knew I could do it if I remained confident in myself! .
What’s even more important and special to me is that I was able to dedicate all of this week’s mileage to Brooks Pro Runner, 4x Cancer Survivor, and the inspiring @gigrunewald - “Brave Like Gabe” was the Mantra I told myself on the start of each run this week to get me going and make the miles count! .
Here’s an excerpt from brooksrunning.com that really stood out to me: “If we truly take “Brave Like Gabe” to heart, it means persevering through challenges without comparing ourselves to anyone else.”
What a great movement this is. Join the Brooks Running family in dedicating a run by using the hashtag #BraveLikeGabe to show your respect and support. .
Cancer is absolutely horrifying and beyond terrible. I have had family members who have survived, those still battling, and loved ones we have lost. Through support we can all help each other get through it!
Share with me how this Mantra will help you?!❤️
Need a reminder that finish lines are you for the taking?? You're unstoppable!! 👊

👍🏽My greatest strength: my commitment to my training schedule!
👎🏽My greatest weakness: my commitment to my training schedule!
So this running thing is dependent on some type of commitment to your schedule & your goals. I mean that’s what we hear everywhere, right? “Make time for it”, “how bad do you want it”… ya get the gist. 🙄I think in all of the hype- we sometimes lose our grounding with good ole common sense (or maybe that is just me 🙃
Yes- we NEED to show commitment to our training schedule- but our GREATEST commitment should be to our health/body. And sometimes our training schedule and what is best for our bod may not line up. 👉🏽So when it doesn’t- your priority EVERY SINGLE TIME should be to what is best for your body. If that means skipping a run because you didn’t get sufficient sleep, pushing back a speed workout until that achilles feels better, waiting until you kick that cold to run again- that’s fine.
👉🏽👉🏽YOU WILL ALWAYS GET MORE OUT OF YOUR BODY BY WORKING WITH IT THAN WORKING AGAINST IT.
Be a patient & confident enough runner to be able to PULL BACK when that is what is best for your body. I’m not sure where this run martyr mentality came in- but I’m not for this anymore. I’ve seen it cause more injuries, more mental burnout, more overtraining than actually FUEL SUCCESS. Only YOU know your body best and can really gauge what you need. If you’re working with a coach- talk to them if you’re needing to adjust your schedule- seriously. Don’t be a running martyr.😌
If we want LONG RUNNING CAREERS, we HAVE to take care of our bodies and be really committed to our health. Don’t be so focused on the immediate (training schedule) that you lose sight of the bigger picture.
My achilles was a bit sore today so I moved my long run tomorrow to give it an extra day to feel better. 😌I could have run without pain today- but decided that the rest would be more beneficial for it- and the work -for @runrocknroll#carlsbad5000 is already done- just want to show up healthy & ready next Sunday!❤️
That moment when you see your hard work paying off 👊😊🙌🏅 New PR (by over 5min!) at the #UnitedNYCHalf today! My goal was sub 1:50, but this new PR of 1:53:57...I'm not mad! || The day started off super early for me. 4am wake up (yikes!), and out the door by 5am. I rode the subway with mostly other Half Marathon runners...because who else in their right mind gets up at this ungodly hour 😂😂 I got to Prospect Park around 6:15am and waited outside (in my tiny shorts, in 27° degree freezing cold 😵) until it was my corral's turn to cross the starting gate (which wasn't until around 8am). The run was soooo BEAUTIFUL. We ran by the Barclays Center, over the Manhattan Bridge, through Chinatown, up the FDR, and when we approached Times Square, the crowds roared 🙌🙌 Central Park was the last stretch and was super tough, especially mentally, because you're soooo close, yet so far 😥 I absolutely loved the course but there were so many freakin hills 😞 I looked at my Nike+ map after I was done and could see orange/red where I slowed down for the hills. I'm definitely feeling pain in my IT Band on both sides after dealing with those hills...the pain was almost unbearable as I approached the last few miles...I could not even walk normally for the rest of the day 😂 Overall, a great course (other than the hills), and hard fought #PR! I'm happy 😊

Sunday runday had this old lady trekking down the road for 16 miles! Another PR in the books for longest run to date. I anticipated the feeling I would feel when I was done. It did not disappoint. Proud, giddy, joyful, accomplished and freakin pooped. Completing a task that you set your mind to, even though you don’t think you can...is a pretty awesome feeling. It is almost addictive. And one I have not had too many times in my life. I have set out to be a good mother and have done a fairly good job, I am a decent employee, and just a general good person. I have had many accomplishments in other areas of life that I am extremely proud of. But this running thing, where you push your mind and body beyond what you think you are capable of, that is just a whole different level for me personally.I went into today’s run, with some wisdom from my yoga class Saturday. To remain grounded. I have put in the work and my roots are firmly planted. No matter how strong the wind, I will not bend. And sure enough, that carried me though. .
🦍 Long post ahead 🙊🙉🙈 I spent the weekend with thousands of amazing runners at the Santa Cruz @runsheisbeautiful event... Followed by the decision to take off a minimum of 7-10days of high impact exercise.. followed by wine and hair braiding (side note: when the tutorial says you'll only need 2-4 Bobby pins, they're lying and no amount of body pins will hold all 5lbs of your hair up 😅). I'm pretty melancholy about the situation 😑. Just a reminder to be grateful for your health and your physical abilities no matter what level you are at... That's probably why I'm always chanting to run happy and be grateful that you are able to do so 👊 Every time running is off the table for me I feel great sadness. This could be 7 days or it could be 14 or more. 🤷 I know it will be there when I'm ready but its absence is profound. More hair braiding, puppy snuggling and pilates for me. #realtalk#arunnersmind#depression2extinction

I will run and not grow weary!
9am easy pace run with my sweet friend @mackenziewieser and Briana, someone new we both met today from our local Womens running group! Had a blast talking the whole time and got some miles in , which was a great way to start the day 😊
This is the first time since I started running 2 1/2 years ago that I’ve experienced a drought like this!!! Yesterday, I had a complete breakdown...😭😭😭
I haven’t been running much more than once a week all winter, and sometimes even less than that.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day and I didn’t even want to go out to run only because I knew how hard it would feel.
There are days that it feels like I’m starting all over again!
When I finally forced myself out the door yesterday afternoon, it took me well over 2 miles to feel like I actually had my breathing somewhat under control.
It’s so frustrating feeling where I’m at today and remembering where I was a year ago at this time, even just 6 months ago!
But, I think having that breakdown yesterday was the “rock bottom” place I needed to go to!! I needed to go there in order for me to realize that I do want to get back to doing things I’ve been brushing off to the side that are actually a big part of my livelihood!
My family and my new business endeavors require A LOT of my time, but I MUST make time in each of my days to take care of myself, too.
I don’t run for weight loss.
I don’t run as a punishment for eating a crappy meal.
I don’t run to be fast.
I NEED to run because my health and happiness depend on it!!
In this moment I almost forget the finish line is RIGHT THERE & that I’m in pain - I wish you guys could see Kinsley’s face light up when she sees me she is so excited & just looks like she’s in total awe of me 💞 as my girl @chrissyvenable said there is nothing glamorous in the sport of running. So many times my stomach hurts, I find some part of my body I didn’t even know I had hurting and look at that sweaty hair (you can only imagine what under my glasses look like) and yet I still can’t wait for the next one . I set the goal after my last half to finish this one at 2hours (9:10/mi pace)or under and I honestly wasn’t really sure if I could do it but one thing I was damn sure of , I was going to try ! And I did it ! Official chip time was 1:57:03 (8:56/mi pace) ... Now sitting here still pondering on what my next goal is going to be 🤔 thank you @ploen_photo for the always awesome photo & such a special moment at that #runhanford#hanfordcowrun#halfmarathon#motherrunner#runner.cupid @runner.cupid@hanfordcowrun#thesemotherscanrun#momswhorun#runnermom#womensrunningcommunity
Planning a really low milage week this week with #hanfordcowrun coming up Sunday. I was going to try to go this morning but the fog had me stuck indoors (which sometimes is better bc then it forces me to workout since I can’t run & then run later) the goal was 60 mins “easy” pace , I was thinking in the 10s since I had the stroller. Really took some time to focus on my form instead of watching the clock so much which made me feel pretty strong today 🏃🏼♀️💨💪🏼 oh and maddie cried about 1/3 of the way so that also kinda lit a fire under my ass 🤣 ... PLUS T SHIRT WEATHER IN JANUARY ?!? Pinch me #thesemotherscanrun#momswhorun#runnermom#womensrunningcommunity

FIRST TRAIL RUN IN THE BOOKS 🏃🏼♀️💨- and honestly it felt pretty good besides the part about having to run TO the finish line before the race started 😂 . I been battling pain from my groin all the way down to my knee the last few weeks and have cut my running frequency by a lot 😫 the whole time I was thinking to myself “push yourself but don’t hurt yourself” bc I’m running a half next weekend . Still really proud of my pace, I had a great time & there is NOTHING like seeing Kinsley’s face light up at the finish line when she sees me 👧🏼👋 plus I got a pretty awesome medal 💁🏼♀️ #sycamoreisland10k#fleetfeetsports#runmamarun#motherrunner#thesemotherscanrun#momswhorun#runnermom#womensrunningcommunity
Still dreaming of being at the beach again today. 16 miles to start off my weekend. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Have a great day! 😊☘️☘️
I really wanted to head out for an introspective easy run. Instead I got into a showdown with another skunk. This one was feisty af and didn’t back down until I started hissing at it. It was hilarious and this is what I love about running: even when I try to make it serious and emotional and feeling, it’s still like, bro come on. Laugh with me. But also don’t get sprayed by that skunk. But if you do it’ll be funny as hell.
Running is the best friend I’ve ever had. It’s a wonderful and terrible influence (and as the enabling wild child friend I can say that — all my college friends will agree 😂). I’m so excited to see where it leads me in the next month...and beyond.
Not even sure what week we’re on: 16 miles at 8:09 pace to round out a 50 mile recovery week. Peak week starts right meow. Here. We. Go. 😱🙏🏻🙌🏻🔥♥️ Cheers!

Racing will sure keep you humble. Slowest half in 2 years this morning🤦🏻♀️. My goal was to average 6:35, but I think I only dipped into the 6:30s a few times. Wish I could say I was purposefully just running MP & using this as a training run- but I wasn't! I was really trying! Not sure what my problem was today. I know my confidence was shot after the first mile clocked in @ 6:52. I thought, if this is how a 6:50 feels on the ONLY downhill mile of the course, then I'm in trouble. Just never got into a groove. GPS got messed up, as expected, but even my manual splits were off. I'm just not great at racing blind.
Trying not to let this get me down, but it's difficult when you nail training runs & then can't follow through when it counts. Weather wasn't too terrible (upper 20s, 10mph wind), so no excuses there. I will say that 22K runners did not fit very well in the corral situation at the start in Brooklyn. Basically no warmup got done. I think I need to try some low key, non crowded races where logistics won't be an issue. Good thing the #bostonmarathon is up next, 🙄🤣

Mini Heart Half Marathon ♥️ One of my favorite hometown races! I sandwiched this between my 17 mile long run today. The course is tough with lots of hills so it’s perfect for Boston Training. Finished in 1:45 and proud of getting out there even though I’ve felt sick this morning (Pepto-Bismol for breakfast isn’t a good sign 🙈) I will always be proud of my races, regardless of time, if I tried my hardest. 👊🏼
Congratulations to all the finishers. I ♥️ running and how it brings a community together!
17 miles...for the week!😜🙌🏼 Coming off the hardest training block of my life, and still riding the high of the result of all that hard work, you bet I’m going to enjoy every bit of this recovery time. 💗 It was so fun this morning to run 8 miles at a relaxed, chatty pace with friends while tackling the hills of Folsom. I think my legs have finally recovered from last Sunday’s race, 😳 but I’m still looking forward to at least one more down week to give them a little extra time off. It’s good to take physical and mental breaks from training once in a while...although I’ll admit I’m already scheming about what’s next. 🏃🏼♀️🦋✨
