Let’s be real here: not every run is going to be full of glamour, and there’s often a lot of pavements involved! I love watching the world when I’m out on my runs although it’s often limited to dog walkers and the occasional cyclist but it’s nice to add a boat to the mix! 🚢
That’s another location ticked off the neverending list. #seenonmyrun

A beautiful morning for a run made even better when cruising with my run buddy! 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻♀️She keeps me motivated and consistent, and I love that we started our run journey together only a few years ago. We’ve progressed from having to stop 5 times over 1km, to now running half marathons! 😅 (If we can do it, anyone can!) No matter what the distance though, we still look forward to that mandatory chat and coffee after our sessions! ☕️😉 Do you prefer a theraputic run on your own or a social one with a friend(s)? 💁🏻♀️ #runbuddies#womenrunning#melbourneinstarunners#runningmums#runhappy#wearerunninggirls
W4D2 - If you watched my stories you’ll know I bailed on this morning’s run, I woke up after 9 hours sleep still feeling rough, so got back in bed with S until 3pm 😳 I don’t think I did that when she was a few days old ! But I mustered up the energy to head to the dreadmill tonight for hill repeats, and thanks to @run4prs and her resonating post yesterday I kept my HR low !
My skin has never looked and felt so clean!! Apparently my skin was extremely thirsty!! When she learned that I am an all season runner, she gave me a piece of her expert mind! I really need to take better care of my skin! Thank you Sonia for the lovely treatment. For all of you winter runner's, what kind of sunscreen do you recommend??
10 mile long run done with my Dad on the bike 🚲 ✅- it was cold, muddy and windy as hell with a few naughty hills thrown in! Ran out to Ware and did a few loops and then ran back along the river - feel really confident and positive after doing that... longest run in so long! ❤️ and now I pass the baton to Matt... who is currently sulking that I’m already done and he has to do his after work tomorrow 😂 #smug#sorrynotsorry

There is a lesson to put into practice in every run. Today's was to learn to catch my breath on the downhill.
Only to book it back up again. 😥
You must first go up to be able to come down.
One of my favorite things about both traveling and running is having the opportunity to meet really cool people. I met this incredibly strong & inspiring woman at the Bahamas half marathon. She finished the race a few minutes before me and was named Grand Master female of the half marathon, and had the fastest finish time for all women over 40! She told me to stick around after the race, because I would either receive 2nd or 1st place for AG if she won the Grand Master title. While we waited for the awards, I learned a lot about Kathryn. On top of being an amazing runner she’s a mom of 3, and a physician on the island treating many athletes with sports injuries. She was in and out of the medical tent making sure anyone who needed care was being treated. She introduced me to many of her friends and I could tell she is very respected on the island. She has run all of the world major marathons, and is planning on running in Rome next. She shared with me her reasons for wanting to live life to the fullest, which was a great reminder to do the same. Kathryn was so incredibly kind she even drove me back to my friend’s house later that morning, which was not easy with so many roads closed for the marathon. I used to be afraid to sign up for races alone, but I always meet the most interesting and kind people when I go to these events! #womeninspiringwomen#womenrunners#runningcommunity#bahamasmarathon
Now that the big bad scary marathon finish is completed 🎉, it's time to get better than just finishing. Its time to get faster. I'm excited for the new challenges and goal I am setting for myself. Always striving to be a better me. #goals#challengeyourself#selfimprovement
There’s nothing like a fitness event to make me happy! This time, it’s @runjunkielondon – a pop-up indoor running class at Lululemon on Marylebone High Street. Tickets are £15 which includes a complimentary smoothie from the team at Neat Nutrition, and all proceeds go to blood cancer charity, Bloodwise. I’m going on Saturday 27 January so if you’re going then too, let me know!
I am not affiliated with any of the parties involved. But I do love sharing fun and interesting events! #charitytuesday#thisgirlcan#iglondon
For Love of the Marathon! A little play on words from a great movie, For Love of the Game. Thank you Chevron Houston for giving me the journey once again, that reminds us why we do what we love.
Sunday’s finish taught me a lot about myself. The biggest thing I learned was how strong I really am. Let me paint a picture... ( long post warning)
From the start I felt great. Coach paced out with me till the half marathon split. I chose to not use my music unless I absolutely needed it. This would allow me to focus and listen to my body. After we split, I got into a groove. Right before the half, my shoelace came untied. As I bent over, that’s when I felt the tightness in my lower back. The first thought in my head, “this can not be happening!” I did a quick stretch then took off. As I got past 15, that’s when the pain really started to show face. I knew I’d see family and friends soon so I told myself to just get there. Made a stop to stretch with friends at 17 and off again I went. Seeing my kids at 18, I grabbed some kisses and a stretch before entering the long haul, Memorial Park.
Entering Memorial Park I put my buds in to see if that would help me forget the pain. Nope! Took those out as fast I put them in. I felt frustrated, not going to lie. My legs still felt amazing. I could tell they wanted to go but every time I tried to push it, my back would scream at me. That’s when I made the decision at mile 21, to just get to the finish ANYWAY I could. If that meant stopping to stretch, then I’d do it. If that meant stopping at hydration and taking my time, I’d do that too. Whatever it took, I would finish 26.2 and earn that medal. Seeing my pace slip drastically could have easily crushed me. Yes, Chicago I’m not 100% over you. However, since I had no buds in I could hear everything. Hearing my name called, all the go get it girl, you’ve got this... made me focus on the positives of this race. Making the turn on Shepard onto Allen Parkway is usually my “wall”. It’s roughly 23 and it just sucks! If you have run Houston, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m taking about. Allen Parkway has 2 hills. ( continue in comments)
Hill repeats got me like 😱😨 One of my 2018 goals is to do more hill specific workouts, particularly now that I’m not living on coastal flatlands. Managed to find a gradual incline for .2 miles to run up and down until my lungs hated me. Not the paces I wanted to run, but I definitely felt the burn! Also, I only saw 3 dogs but one was a corgi puppy which is like hitting the dog jackpot for me, so I rounded up to 10 burpees!

#runstreakday15 Nothing super fancy to report, just 3.5 easy miles after a icy and snowy Monday. Random question: for those of you who take to an actual track for speedwork, how do you go about finding one you can use? I would like to do my intervals on an actual track but I’m unsure if I can just waltz over to the local high school and use theirs. 😳🤷🏻♀️
What’s better than Friday after work? Crushing a tempo run Friday after work, that’s what!! 3x10 min tempo intervals between 7:30-7:40 pace with 5 minute recoveries for #runstreakday12
#runstreakday13 🏃🏻♀️ The best thing about long runs is you can just go out, turn on some music, and just zone out for a while and still finish feeling like you got a hard workout in. 12 miles in the running bank today with no pace goals, no hurry to get home, and lots of dogs to spot for the burpee challenge (20). Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!
