2017 was a great year full of PR's. Very thankful to have been healthy and injury free. This is one of my favorite photos of the year. Flying ✈ ✈ ✈ to a PR. Always with a smile no matter if I have a good or bad race😊.
Week miles--------100 PR
Month miles-------303 PR
Year miles--------2,868 PR
1 mile----------------4:48 PR
10 miles------------58:20 PR
Half marathon--1:17:40 PR
I was able to PR every distance. I think we can all improve if we put in the work. The goal will be to improve once again in 2018. Who's gonna crush it in 2018???😁😁 #m2bmarathon#lexuslaceup#mountains2beachambassador2018#mountains2beachambassador#m2blifestyle#raceslo#venturamarathon#santamaria
Focusing in on the middle miles of the Ventura Marathon 12 days ago. I focused on one mile at a time minimizing and trying to avoid bad miles. I didn't have a bad mile that day. Perhaps the only race I've run that well and consistent. I'll try to replicate it tomorrow at Revel. #RunItFast#VenturaMarathon
Respect all... Fear none.
This pic was taken at around mile 24, coming up to Mile 25 last Sunday at the #venturamarathon . The struggle was real for me on the last 5 miles of this marathon, the main objective at this point was to just reach the finish line and live to fight another day.
The first 18 miles were glorious, effort level and hydration were right on track, once Mile 19 came around my stomach started to feel some type of way, by mile 20 I started to feel a little nauseous, had to slow down quite significantly and felt like throwing up every time I would attempt to get back on pace.
Needless to say, that last 5k felt like the longest 5k ever, there was a lot of shuffling and very easy jogging along the way. -
Not every race is a Dream race, sometimes things go south and you have to be prepared for it, physically and mentally. Marathons are a test of Will and strength, they require your respect and preparation. Don't be fooled by the fairy tales out there, even if you're well trained and prepared (which I wasn't for this one) it can still make you pay.
Anyways, every race is different. Take what the day gives you and enjoy the journey. Respect all, Fear None. 🤘🏽😎

#fbf and #latepost, FINALLY, to this past Sunday when these two TRP runners made me a proud coach!! 😊
HUGE SHOUTOUT and CONGRATS 🙌 to @sandrci who completed the very tough Marine Corp Marathon!! I met Sandra earlier this year when she contacted me to learn more about training and racing with HR. We sat and chatted for an hour, and a few weeks later, she ran the Boston Marathon (and PR’d!!!) simply by monitoring HR during the race. Although she did not hit her marathon goal time this time around (happens to us ALL), she persevered at MCM and never gave up!! What makes me most proud of her was not just her determination on race day, but her commitment to training over her 18 weeks of training, RARELY skipping a workout, and the lessons and blessings she found along the way in her journey!! (Scroll ⬅️ to see what she had to say....) •
HUGE SHOUTOUT and CONGRATS 🙌 also to @eatprayrunlift who made a huge breakthrough at the Ventura Half Marathon with an official time of 1:45:30!! Nancy has been #training with TRP since August 2016, with a number of races along the way. Prior to joining TRP, her last #halfmarathon in June 2016 was 1:59:22. She desperately wanted to get back to where she was in March (1:51:50). This girl knows no boundaries and works hard! With a huge #marathon PR at the L.A. Marathon in January 2017 (3:54:39), she kept chipping away at her 3 half marathon races, and on this one, her 4th this year took it to another level!! •
Keep working hard ladies, there’s so much more greatness ahead!!! Keep enjoying the journey! •

Flashback Friday. Back to my first marathon ever. My toughest, most painful race ever. Close to 90 degrees towards the end. Felt great the 1st half of the race and was right on pace for my 3:03 goal. As soon as I hit 16 miles I just felt horrible. (Looking back, I wasn't hydrating properly with water and electrolytes to compensate for the high temperatures). -----
My goals quickly changed from a 3:03 to just finishing the race without walking. After I crossed the finish line I said I'd never run a marathon again. I stayed away from the marathon distance for over a year, but I completed 7 more within a 9 month period this last year. 😁😁 8 easy miles this morning with some strides.
Throwback to Ventura marathon—recap about my recent BQ...up on my new BLOG—LINK IN PROFILE!!! Warning...it’s long 😜. Preview:
“The days before the race I was feeling nervous…like REALLY nervous! I tried my best to eat as many carbs as possible even when I didn’t feel like eating. By Friday, I was feeling SO good! Energized, ready, full of carbs, I had never experienced this before because I’ve always ran too much/too hard weeks before my marathons. @sugarruns coaching had me feeling great :)!” Blog is in my profile!! Hope you enjoy 🙏🏽

to this past weekend in Ventura! I did the half(2:16), and eventho it wasn’t my personal best, it was a great, fun run! I also got to witness this group of AWESOME runners PR on their runs! 5 out of 7 of us completed our 2nd marathon(not me), and all but one PR’d and/or BQ’d! The one person that didn’t, got the same exact time(to the second-3:47:38-still SO amazing! I can hope to be that fast one day!!) 2 of these runners, Oriana (3:24) and Beatrix(3:51) BQ’d and PR’d! And heather finished with a time of 4:24(33 min PR!!!) Phil PR’d with a time of 3:37! Sean, who also did the half, PR’d with 1:34!! WOOOOOOOWWW!! I am so incredibly PROUD of them! They kicked some serious booty!! So happy I was able be part of such a great weekend! 🤗 #blackflagrunningclub#venturamarathon#friendsthatrun
Story time: I met this lovely human Isaac on the course around Mile 8 of the Ventura Half Marathon. I had my eyes on him every mile up until that point, using him as my guide. @ksmith_1o6 caught up to me right around the same time that Isaac started dropping. I ran up to him and said 'I've been watching you the entire race. Do NOT give up now, you got this.' He looked a little nervous but quickly pulled himself together and got back in the game. From that moment on, it was the 3 of us - pulling and pushing each other to the end. There were moments where I couldn't hold the pace, and there were times when Isaac pulled back as well, but we always ended up back together. Kylie (superhuman) had zero problems holding the pace, so we used her unicorn powers to keep us in line. Right before the finish, I noticed Isaac was really having a hard time. Like, couldn't even run hard time. I hesitated, continuing to look back at him while also trying to finish strong. Seconds before I crossed the finish line, I look back to check if he's near and THERE HE IS, right next to me. We grabbed hands and sprinted through the finish line together. THIS is why I love the running community. We runners develop an instant connection on the course and feed off each others strengths. I'm so lucky to have these types of experiences and I'm so proud of Isaac for being tough as nails all the way to the end, despite whatever pain or struggle he was in. This is what it's all about. And I'm forever grateful. #runhappy#runningcommunity#venturamarathon#lexuslaceup#neverstopexploring#optoutside#justshowup#novemberproject#np_lax#thisshitisgood
Throw back to Sunday when I ran my marathon. I started running at 6:37am and left Sir Dexter with Thalya. At the finish line she told me he cried for a whole hour. I didn't believe her, but then she showed me a video. At the end of my run, I was so exhausted, but I picked up Sir Dexter to take a picture with him and he looked at me and leaned his head on my chest. It was so weird, but it felt like he was hugging me and congratulating me in his own special way. I enjoyed this experience so much...from the run and the love I felt that day from all that supported me before, during, and after. I can't wait for my next one. LA Marathon, here I come! #venturamarathon#Marathon#throwback#ilovemydog

Here is my race recap from the #venturamarathon 2017. I had a great training cycle going in. Everyone @mile26sports is so encouraging and just solid, like minded people to be around. Everything leading up was telling me a sub 4 was possible and I was going to go for it. Lined up with the 3:57 pace group and went to work. Stayed with them through mile 8 and continued on, thought if I could fall back into them at mile 20 they could take me the rest of the way. Sure enough they caught at mile 20 and I stayed with them till mile 23... then the doors fell off as the day got hotter. I was crushed as I literally got to see my goal go away in the distance. Brought it in at 4:02:10 and was overcome by emotions as my whole family was at the finish line. 26.2 you are a bad dude! But here is the silver lining and why I love this whole endurance sports world. I still have a goal to fight for. I still have something to drive me forward. I have a reason to get better. And for that I am truly grateful.
In 6 days, I will be running the Ventura Marathon in hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2016 and set a new PR. Race week can always be exciting yet a little stressful but the next few days I will prepare myself mentally and physically to run a good race. #bq#marathon#venturamarathon#socal#running
