The palm tree forests of the coast never seize to amaze me. Rented out a motorbike from a local boda driver and went for a cruise. Was not able to convince @mariekelensvelt to join the adventure, as she preferred being lazy at the beach. Cruised for hours, chilled with the locals and threw up my drone every few kilometers 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴 #CharliesTravelsAfrica 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
What is it about emotions that intimidates us so much that we often dread them? We choose fear of our emotions at the expense of our relationships, objectivity, experiences, humanity and our present situation. This is why you need a Pisces to walk into that 'black hole' with all the Neptune bravery. Happy Pisces season!✨
Swakopmund day one. A 20 degree drop in temperature from Sossusvlei. Germany by the sea... traditional beer houses, German food, architecture and... German tourists! ⚓🌊🌤️
1. A rather, errr, small hammock at our backpackers.
2&3. Pia on the peer.
4. Heavy lifting - the world's largest quartz crystal on display.
5. Brad at Brauhaus.
6. Fancy food at The Tug.
"Such sights as these must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight".. The 'smoke that thunders', the largest waterfall in the world, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World - probably the most magical place I've ever been, twice. 💚🌍
It is located in Kumasi in the heart of the Ashanti Region.
I was here exactly the same time last year.
There were 26 savaged species with majority caged aside the birds 🦅 but this time round, there were 22.
The cages for these species have inscriptions and description of the species on them and are self explanatory which was really good for me because I could even go round without a guide and that’s why I was spent like an hour there. Lol
You know you’ve entered the family house of the animals when the first thing you see is a romantic moment of monkey 🐒 couple. As to whether to shout or be quite not to interrupt the somewhat magical moment between was something difficult to decide. I did both. Lol 😂
Will you blame me? I have not seen monkeys kiss 😘 before so you know....maybe over excited to contain myself. Haha. The bats 🦇 here was countless.
The one specie I was looking forward to seeing but scared 😱 at the same time was the python 🐍. Check my stories for videos of the Zoo.
MAKING DISCOVERIES ⛺
I would have began with charity begins at home but come to think of it, it won't really apply in this scenario. Anyway let me not get into those proverbs but rather ask, what sparks your mind when you hear Samburu? 😮
Do you think of dry land 🌵, herds of cattle 🐄🐮🐐, thatched houses, dusty roads with potholes...keep listing them with me. Yes all those things that you have mentioned. Now that I remember, someone mentioned that they think of 'very hot, sunny and dry conditions with no water.' In case you are part of the group that thinks the same way, I do not blame you and nobody should blame you either for not knowing anything about Samburu.
To get rid of all that, allow me to become your history teacher for these few minutes. ✅✔ Getting down to business, Samburu is a name derived from the word Samburr which is a leather bag used by the Samburu community to carry a variety of things. Samburu apart from being an ethnic group in Kenya, is a County located about 300km north of Nairobi with a population of approximately 224,000 people. 🌍
Back to what people often say, bad news travels fast, that is true and in this case it has overshadowed the good side and sites of Samburu. Take for example there are amazing places you could go to for a weekend or holiday break with friends and family. Now you are probably asking yourself the big question, WHERE? 💡
📍 Talk of Samburu National Reserve, Shaba National Reserve, Sera Conservancy Trust, Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy and Samburu Game Lodge just to mention but a few.
Samburu Sopa Lodge will be my pick of the day for you; as you look for that African authenticity, a breath of fresh air and serene environment this is definitely the place 🛀. Here is part of what you are missing. Only two words...magnificent sight. 🌄
What makes this more amazing is that the Sopa Lodges are widely distributed around Kenya and there are also some in Tanzania. What am I trying to say? 😕 You have no excuse for not visiting any of the Sopa Lodges. 🎇
