Okay so instead of laying around feeling sorry for myself, I went for a run after I put my son to bed!!! I completed 3 miles of running in intervals and did some walking as well!
If I want things to change, it is entirely up to ME to change them. I am really starting to feel proud of myself again, because I can see my strength and my dedication. I know I am capable of reaching my goals, I just have to stay focused and stay consistent in my efforts! #crushedit#turnthatfrownupsidedown#runningmom

Doing the 10k race exactly one month from today. Created a schedule for it on Christmas Day and started my training on 12/26. Since then I've made some significant changes to my training plan after hearing what the experts had to say about 10k specific preparation. Haven't exactly followed it to perfection but I would say that so far I've stuck to my plan about 75% of the time. It is however, necessary that I leave no stone unturned between now and race day because otherwise I absolutely won't hit my ambitious goal of a sub 37 10k, which is a 5:57 pace. I've never averaged that pace in any race I've competed in; I've never even had a mile split that fast before so I've really got to make sure that I'm on top of everything. I've noticed that I've started my am runs a little too late in the morning; I've got to start them earlier because it's best to allow at least 6 hours between your runs, and I'd much rather get my pm run out of the way while there's still some daylight and warmth in the air. Today was supposed to be a circuit training day, but it turned into a rest day. Tomorrow I'll be hitting the gym, and then on Friday the 10 day running streak will begin once again. #wearecrazyrunners#restday#circuittraining#10ktraining#staydisciplined#keepyoureyeontheprize#nevergiveup#bloodsweatandtears#trainingplans#runninggoals#runner4life#tackleyourgoals
And the journey gets serious... Running it is.
A new chapter I open today, that of a pursuing a career on road races, not for the medals but for a cause with @runnersheal . That one day I get to run major races in a #werunthis vest for the good of those who need a hand in East Africa. Therefore two hours each day dedicated to training in the slopes of the Rift Valley, my hometown @iten_kenya and the beautiful #keriovalley
I hope it won't be too much to share my journey here on insta with the first goal being running #RunfortheMau18 with fellow Alumni @egertonuni

I’ll admit - I still don’t love running.
I started in July after spending my life telling myself I couldn’t do it. I kept at it while cross training at home and this Sunday I will run my first half marathon!!! But I’m not in love with the act. It doesn’t light up my soul the same way hopping down to my basement does to sweat with some weights.
And that’s exactly why I keep doing it. I’m still uncomfortable with it. That is the point.
It challenges me. It pushes me to go further and endure in a different way than my other workouts. It forces me to pick a route and take it — not knowing exactly what the course will look or feel like. It pushes me to reverse all the crap I’ve spoken in my mind for years.
I like the personal achievement that comes from adding on miles. I like the feeling of climbing a hill that I thought would defeat me. I like looking back on my progress to see how far I’ve come.
I am inspired by the people I surround myself with in my life. My mom who fought like hell to get her health back when cancer tried to take it. The members of my online group who have set goals and crushed them. My friends who have done this countless times while working on careers, raising babies, etc. The people I am working with on the daily who are trying to live healthier lives - one healthy meal at a time.
We CAN do hard things - even if we don’t like them. And we don’t have to always like them. We can push ourselves and grow even if something feels UNcomfortable. It may not be our comfort zone right now, but we want it to be.
So, I’m doing this Sunday. And then I’m taking on a different challenge Monday. None are part of the path I’ve known, but I believe they can keep pushing me to where I want to be. And, maybe, encourage someone else to do the same. Xo

“You did not wake up today to be mediocre” Today is a gift. Why wake up every day and not full ass it?
Why go through the day and not give your full ass to all the things you do?
Ok friends. Reseting tomorrow. Giving my full ass to all the things I do. I’ve gained a handful of lbs 🤦🏼♀️because holidays, vacation and basically I love chocolate 🍫 No I don’t think I look bad, no I’m not going on a diet and not I’m not quitting chocolate.🤓
Anyways - hammered out my AT workout on the TM tonight because the roads here are slick. I had to stop at certain time to pick up my boy 💙. I probably could’ve gotten a couple more miles in at AT pace, which makes me happy. I felt sluggish and heavy today, but my body was moving. I never settled into a good cadence on the TM, my legs wanted to go faster. Such is TM running 🤷🏼♀️
Glad these two ladies @chaechel.lyn And @amybretl where suffering the mental torture right next to me 🤣
I'm looking for ideas 🙂 This morning I realised I had crossed almost all my fitness goals off my bucket list. 5k ✅ 10k ✅ 12k ✅ first half marathon ✅ Auckland half marathon and bettered time ✅ tough guy and gal ✅ run for your freakin life ✅ start crossfit ✅ do a trail run ✅
So I need more fitness goals..anyone know any cool events or fitness goals I should add...so far I've got:
- do a colour run (booked in March)
- do the waterfront half marathon in April and improve my time (hopefully)
- do the round the bays (never done this one!)
- do the lactic turkey romaine adventure race
- do a military style obstacle course
- learn to do double unders (skipping)
- get strong enough to do a pull up
- Do the whole xterra trail run series (hoping to do this this year)
- do the Paris Disneyland half marathon
- do ONE full marathon (this one will need to be done overseas as I only plan to do one - so maybe New York?) Any other ideas??? 🏃
