Slept bad. Exhausted. Bloated. PMS. Raining. Locked out of the building. Tight muscles. Bathroom trips. A million excuses I could have used but I gave in to NONE OF THEM 👊🏼 hit 4 miles at tempo (7:17) and the rest at recovery (8:20-8:45) then some stretching, abs, and pushups .... Everyone wants to be successful until it’s time to do what it takes #getitdone
Timehop reminded me a year ago today I posted this quote and I’ll be damned if it’s truth doesn’t still linger one year later:
“As I look back on my life I realize every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.” For all the opportunities I have been given, I have doors closed in my face, too. Doors at work, doors in my personal life, and even doors in my fitness. But not getting everything we work for or want is a part of life and how we learn to adjust and adapt. I believe everything happens for a reason, and for every door that closes another door opens. 🙌🏼 Keep KNOCKING!
Silver lining - everything I have been burying exploded into my most beautiful progression run to date: 8:10/ 7:51/ 7:30/ 7:17/ 6:50/ 6:41 and then 1 mile down for 7 miles total.💪🏼👊🏼 #fightforit
‘Nothing can substitute for just plain hard work....’👊
I get lots of questions asking how I combine @alexia_clark workouts with running. It’s actually something I’m still figuring out myself but one thing I do know is that AC is doing wonders for the strength in my legs and that is really important as a runner.🏃♀️💪
But this is how my training schedule looks (usually) for those of you who are interested -
❣️Monday - AC workout (upper body or legs)
❣️Tuesday - AC full body or @1rebeluk reshape class combining treads and weights
❣️Wednesday - 8/10km tempo or fast run ❣️Thursday - AC workout (upper body or legs) and sprints
❣️Friday - REST ❣️Saturday - Long run (usually trails)
❣️Sunday - 10/12km run .
It’s a schedule that is currently working for ME. Sometimes I freak out that I’m doing something wrong and I frequently wonder whether this will help me achieve my goals, but I’m going with it because I’m loving it! Do what works for YOU, it doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing because we all have different dreams. Some people don’t do any cardio and that’s fine if it’s what suits them. I love running AND weight training and they complement one another, for me, so I work my week around doing them both. Obviously it doesn’t always work but I am better with routine!
🇬🇧 Good memories from the Savageman triathlon race. This photo was taken in the transition zone after the 90km with 1920m elevation bike course. After that nothing left just a half marathon with 400m elevation. And btw the bike course max 31% 😱 I think my face tells everything how my I was waiting for the running course. 😂
8 sweaty home treadmill miles with 4 at tempo (7:27 pace).
Felt strong throughout the tempo and kept my thoughts positive! I'm grateful everyday that I can run, even when its hard. I can feel myself breaking down mental and physical walls and pushing limits to become a stronger runner.
Guys ... the weekend is ALMOST here!!! Make your Thursday rock!!😘👊
“The weekend is in sight!”
Happy hump day! Feel like you’ve been dragged through mud since the start of the week? Don’t fret, it’s hump day & I think I can see Friday over that mole hill! Whoohoo! (throwback to the Makahiki Challenge back in 2015) Do you like mud run obstacle courses and/or would you do it??
1 mi WU, 8x400m uphill sprints with 400m recoveries for a total of ✋🏽miles today!
Took to my 4 mile loop this morning and ditched the watch and music. I have a lot on my mind, so it was nice to think through some things while I ran💙
It's a recovery week for me and I'm looking forward to holding back in my running both in miles and pace, and to pick things up a notch next week!! Stuff like this gets me seriously giddy!🤗
Make today count guys - Happy Monday!
Why so serious?!!😜 Lol, I think I must always have serious faces at the gym -- but c'mon, it would be weird if someone was just walking around the gym with a big smile on their face. Right?!🤔
5 treadmill miles and 25 minutes of core and legs. Picked up the pace a little today but still kept things much lighter than my usual Tuesdays.
Have a happy Tuesday!!
