Remembering my dear friend, Alan, whose birthday it would’ve been today. ‘Swap gear party’ January/ February 1976, Gold Coast, Qld.
I could never wear that T shirt again after Alan stretched it beyond all recognition😉. Sadly, Alan went missing while sailing in the Whitsunday Islands not long after this photo. His body was never recovered 😢 xx
Remembering my dad today... 2 years back he left this earth for better pastures. This picture is his last trip and most memorable one to Australia. He caught the Live World Cup finals at Melbourne Cricket Stadium. Watching World Cup final cricket live at Lords in London was his wish, but it was at Melbourne, so we sent him there 😀😀.
At 22, he was a qualified doctor from Grand Medical college and turned down a scholarship to London, just because his mother cried a tear. He married his college sweetheart, my mom, also a medic. .
By age 68, he had done it all. Been a medical professor at Grand Medical college, owned his own clinic but sold it in a year because he kept giving free consultations and medicines and couldn't keep up the sole venture, a successful doctor at the famous K.E.M hospital and rendered services to B.M.C of Mumbai. .
All his life, he kept refusing fees to his patients and gave free services for which many termed him as too generous but not wise.
He was a great doctor with no business mind. His diagnosis is revered by family and friends till today. .
Ofcourse I miss my dad, and it's no big deal, he was there for a good number of years and lived his life well. I was a pampered princess by dad. He was also my jokes partner, foodie to the hilt, loved by all his friends and family And a great father above all.
P. S. 26th January is his birthday, and I will celebrate his birthday surely, because he was always excited about his birthday and joked that the whole of India and Australia celebrates it ( it's Indian Republic Day and Australia's National Day too 😆) Here's to this gem of a dad, cheers 🍸
