I was recently reminded of the fact that light is the fastest moving thing that we know exists in the universe. And that darkness only exists in the absence of light. But light moves, and exists on its own, not dependent on the absence of anything. It simply exists, moves, and spreads. And it does so faster than any other thing. This is a mercy from God. He made light be easy to receive. And He made darkness exist only when there is no light. Light guides. Light inspires. Light provides hope. And God Himself has said in the Quran that He is "Noor so samawati wal ard," the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. This is not to say that God is the light we think of, for the light we know of is a created thing and God is nothing like anything He creates, but He is the Source of all the light that guides, helps, clarifies, inspires, and expands our hearts. And if we can learn to always hold on to His rope, He will never leave us in darkness, for darkness can only exist in the absence of Light. And just like light in itself is the fastest moving thing that we know exists, there will be no-one or nothing that will move faster towards you than God Himself, for He says about his servants, "If he (my servant) comes to me walking, I go to Him at speed." (hadith qudsi)
If you’re ever in the city, the Met is a one of the best museums to visit along with other touristy iconic NYC spots. It’s the largest museum in the US and has a very extensive list of exhibits and collections. I read that in March that they will change it from suggested* entry fee to an entry fee for all non-New Yorkers.
