Women's Day is celebrated to acknowledge how far we have come fighting for basic rights such as voting, the right to choose partners, the right to inherit property, the right to make decisions, the right to education, the right to work and earn money, the right to equal pay. We have come a long way and we have a long way to go.
Sharing this photograph that I had taken in Kailali district, Nepal on an assignment for @humanrightswatch. The girls from this community were economically backward and were facing crisis on a daily basis. They were fighting to get an education, work and help their families and still celebrate their daily lives. I found a lot of inspiration and happiness being in their company.
Happy Women's Day to all the beautiful women I have met in my life and admire, and to the men who believe in gender neutral friendships and stand by women in their fight for equality!
