5 weeks post op. My scar is healing so well. I'm healing well!
It feels strange getting out and doing normal things. Like I'm carrying around a secret. I look normal, I look like I'm well but I just don't feel it. I feel so grateful. But I am so looking forward to feeling 100% I want to get rid of this weight I put on when my heart wasn't at full capacity. 2018, I'm coming for ya!
I don’t regret when I step up and fail, I regret when I don’t take any action at all. Don’t be afraid to fail.

Some days my heart gives up. Literally. My pacemaker is forced to do virtually all of the work for my heart and that's battery operated y'all. Some days I feel like this battery is working too hard. I get so afraid that it will quit on me. Then I get anxious. Knowing a little metal box is keeping me alive is hard on the old psyche.
But I AM alive. I continue to push hard to spite this little metal box. To push the statistics that agree my lifespan is significantly lessened by the limitations of my congenital bullshit heart. Don't take not hearing your own heartbeat for granted. And if you can, like me, let this little pocketwatch heart motivate you to put your whole bionic soul into everything. Always.
Build to a 3 Rep OHS. On max lifts I try to stay at about 75-80% of my previous maxes(1 rep 3 rep etc) This isn’t some hard and fast rule but I’ve found it allows me to feel like I’m challenging myself without any undo stress on muscles or more specifically joints.
My joints have been far less stable and my SI joint In particular has given me fits. This is due to a fun hormone Relaxin. This hormone loosens the joints and ligaments in your pelvis to prepare for delivery, and it widens your blood vessels to compensate for the increased blood flow. Sounds helpful, but it often affects other parts of the body too.
Chiropractic care has been a lifesaver for me the last several months. I’m lucky enough to have @chiropracticcarecenter taking care of me and encourage any ladies out there who are expecting to seek chiropractic care!
Baker had a restful night for the most part. His blood pressure and urine output were low so they’re increasing diuretics to help flush out some excess fluid. The diuretics will hopefully help his lungs start working better and they’ll try weaning the vent down to work towards breathing on his own. 🤞🏻🤞🏻He also had an NG tube placed to start feeds until the breathing tube comes out. It’ll be another quiet day of rest while we wait for him to perk up a bit. It’s been an emotional 24 hours and it’s hard for me to see him hooked up to so many things. When he was awake a bit this morning, I made sure he saw us so he knows we’re by his side while he heals. 💙💛 #strongboy#TeamHeartBaker#BakersHeart❤️
