#ondating & #onrelationships
Anyone who thinks that dating is a game has already lost; dating is an art. Not a science. Not a game. Not a fucking dance. A dance implies some sense of choreography, when life itself, to be genuine, is not expectable. It is not predictable, unless you are making choices based in egoic identity rather than your own inner wisdom, intuition, & soforth. The heart of this art is the interplay of emotions and responses to emotions. The success of which is the neutralization of each emotion, through recognition that emotions are transitory and not reasons for transgressions or abuse.
Therefore, when I say that I’m bored of dating, I mean perhaps that too few people understand this concept. They believe their own thoughts & emotions are so fucking real that they take others’ behavior personally and use it to blame for their own transgressions. Why bother with free will when we can place our burdens on others and wallow instead?
We each are the creator of our own reality through which we affect the realities of others. However, no one else can create for us exactly what we need. No one else knows the depth and sound of our soul. No one can be ourselves for ourselves, but ourselves.
A hearty “Rawr!” to Rex Le Beau!
“Stomping Out the Gender Binary With Dinosaurs”
A dinosaur sits on a park bench when a jogger stops and asks, “Yo, T-Rex! Are you a boy or a girl?” “Neither,” replies T-Rex. “…that’s not an answer most people are expecting, but it’s a question people who present in a non-gender conforming way get a lot,” says Rex LeBeau.
Rex is the creator of the comic “Transosaurus Rex” which follows a genderqueer T. Rex, exploring the day to day issues faced by people who do not identify as gender binary (neither male nor female). “When you use the gender binary of male or female, one is going to be perceived as better,” says Rex. “In our society, we have one gender that has historically held a lot more power than the other. Binaries deny our humanity.” A marine scientist and artist, Rex decided to bring awareness to some of the issues that non-binary people face and encourage conversation through storytelling. Science has very limited ability to tell whether a fossil is male or female, so a T-Rex was an obvious choice for an approachable character. “I think every kid goes through a dinosaur phase. Everybody loves them,” says Rex.
Rex loves dinosaurs so much that at the age of seven, they named themselves after Tyrannosaurus Rex. They didn’t even know that “Rex” was a human name. It was just their favorite dinosaur. They admit, “When you’re a little kid and the world is kind of a scary place it just feels good to identify with this gigantic thing that has teeth and is stomping all over everything and, rraaawr!” Rex’s TEDx Newport talk, “Stomping Out the Gender Binary With Dinosaurs,” shows gender as a spectrum with a wide range of individual expression. Rex thinks that showing this might “tip the boat for some people.” But, they say, “I’m hoping that when we do tip the boat, people think, ‘Oh, the water’s warm! We can go swimming!” #TEDxNewport#capsized#ted#tedx#newportri
