#transformationtuesday 1st year of teaching vs 4th year of teaching. First pic: Just graduated college, which meant I had been going out every weekend + plus some week days, eating convenient foods like chipotle & subway multiple times a week, barely working out, unhealthy, unhappy, and not very confident. Second picture: Healthy, happy, confident, & strong both mentally and physically.
Looking in the mirror everyday we don’t always see the changes we are making, but putting pictures side by side shows your true progress. I am proud of the person I have become & pray that anyone who was struggling like I was, finds their way! ❤️
LOWER BODY WORKOUT✨
If you need a quickie total body workout, this is PERFECT. ✨
✨ I did 4 rounds, 45 seconds of work: 15 seconds of rest of the following:
1. Goblet squats with bottom half pulse
2. Reverse lunges
3. Single leg deadlifts
4. Banded glute bridges ✨
I finished off with a tabata to really burn out my legs 😅. 8 rounds 20 seconds of work: 10 seconds of rest. I alternated between:
1. Glider Jump Lunges.
2. Kettlebell Leg Drivers. ✨
Let’s just say the burn is REAL. 😂 And the best part is this workout took LESS than half an hour to complete!! 💪
I wanted to acknowledge this....ignoring the butcher knife...let's get real. We always see the before and after, we always hear about weight loss journeys, and yes, I've been bigger and lost fat. But here's the thing, I used to be sick. I used to be anorexic...it was brought on by depression but I dealt with never eating...some times 3 days would go by and I wouldn't have ate a thing. I passed out in a sun tan city parking lot....So I wanted you to see two sides. I hate being told I look thin or that I've lost weight because this is who I think of when someone tells me that.
This being said, I am so proud of myself. Looking back, I remember how much pain I was in. How hard life seemed and how I didn't know what the future held. But little did I know it held such amazing things for me. God's blessed me in so many ways. He knew all of the pain I endured would bring me to where I am now and I am just truly grateful. ❤
Training is a very serious thing. Obviously. 😂🤪
But actually, what’s been key in keeping me consistent with working out all these years, is making the whole process seem like play.
Yes, there are still days when it feels like a chore, those days it’s a large coffee and 💯 discipline that gets me showing up.
The rest of the time though, it’s play time - listening to great music whilst moving my body, experimenting with new movement patterns and sequences, challenging and competing with myself to push a little harder or hit a benchmark.
And not to mention getting to meet the insanely cool people I’ve met in gyms all around the world - seriously, if you’re looking for the cool kids, I can tell you they’re hanging out in the gym 😎
I appreciate that working out is not always easy, but try and flip your perspective on it, think of it like playing, like when you were a kid and could probably do jumping jacks for hours on end...(remember those days...?!).
If you can find the fun in what you’re doing, (and of course find a program or form of movement you enjoy) then it will help to cement and solidify your health and fitness habits.
And once it’s a habit... well, you’re pretty much set for life 💪🏼
My ❤️ and prayers go out to @yannarnophoto family and friends. A beautiful human has moved on from this earth, but his beautiful soul will live on forever in my mind. I am so grateful to say that Yann was a friend who helped change my life and inspired me to forever pursue the art of Movement. Yann was the first person to ever take me back stage to a @cirquedusoleil show and share with me his passion for Movement. He helped improve my life and so many others around him. A true special soul. I want to take the time to say I am forever grateful. Happy motivational Monday. You will always motivate me to follow my passion for positivity in Movement and live life to the fullest. #motivationmonday#rip#circusinspiration#respect .
