Giving Thanks for Christian Friends
“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2)
We all have much to be thankful for. It is certainly appropriate to give audible thanks for our daily bread, whether in private, at a family meal, or in public at a fine restaurant. In fact, Jesus set the example. When He miraculously fed the multitude beside the Sea of Galilee, He began with a prayer of thanksgiving: “He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them. . . . And they did all eat, and were filled” (Matthew 15:36-37). It is good to give thanks for our food and shelter and clothing, but the blessing of having Christian friends is even more thankworthy. The first letter to the Thessalonians was possibly Paul’s first Spirit-inspired letter to Christian friends, and Paul began with a testimony of thankfulness to God for them (see the text above). When Paul wrote to the Philippians, he began similarly: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3), and to the Colossians, he started the same way: “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you” (Colossians 1:3). The same when he wrote his epistle to the church at Corinth: “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:4). Even when writing to the Christians at Rome, whom he had not yet met personally, he wrote: “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all” (Romans 1:8). He also thanked God for his personal friends Timothy (2 Timothy 1:3) and Philemon (v. 4). Throughout our Christian life journey, we develop lasting Christian friends and can thank God for all of them. What a blessing to have such friends, and how fitting it is to give God special thanks for them at this time. HMM
7 years ago I was given the biggest miracle I could ask for. I gave birth to three amazing boys. I am forever thankful that I was chosen to be their mother. Happy birthday Demetrius, Elijah and Xavier!!! #birthdayboys#triplets#miracles#radioflyer#choochoo
“I live in the space of thankfulness - and for that, I have been rewarded a million times over. I started out giving thanks for small things, and the more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That’s because - for sure - what you focus on expands. When you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it.” -Oprah Winfrey
Happy Thanksgiving! Today I choose to focus on what I am grateful for. This poppy normally blooms in Summer, but is currently showing off its beautiful colours in my garden. The ultimate proof that anything is possible! 🌺
Give thanks to Mother Earth for providing us with beautiful flowers and plants that feed us. I’m cooking a vegan feast tonight to celebrate the harvest 🌽🥕🥦 how are you giving thanks today?

This is probably the most difficult thing I will ever do in my life. While taking our engagement pictures, I decided it was time to stop hiding from the one thing I tried hardest to conceal for almost 15 years. It was time to embrace my true self. I was diagnosed with Alopecia Universalis when I was 8 years old. It is a disease where all of your hair follicles suddenly stop growing and the doctors can not figure out why or what will bring it back. They call it the mystery disease. Nothing else is wrong with the body other than hair will not grow. As you can imagine for a young girl, this is a huge confidence killer. A woman’s hair is seen as her beauty and a main part of her self image. I experienced lots of bullying in the early years and along the way I lost all hope that I could ever feel beautiful again. Until I met Bryan... I have never felt more confident or more beautiful than I do with him by my side. He has helped me be brave and realize that hair is not what makes you beautiful and is not what makes people love you, it is truly all about what’s on the inside; and for that I am forever grateful for him. He has shown me that the people who love you do not care whether or not you have hair, and the ones who do are not worth your time or your love. So this is me, the true me.

When we look at the vast expanse of creation, we wonder how God could be concerned for people who constantly disappoint him. Yet God created us only a little lower than himself and the angels! The next time you question your worth as a person, remember that God considers you highly valuable. We have great worth because we bear the stamp of the Creator. Because God has already declared how valuable we are to him, we can be set free from feelings of worthlessness.
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Psalms 8:4-5 KJV
