Hey Everyone @elementalearthphotography for my last post of the day. It was super fun doing this takeover and a huge thanks again to both @universetoday and Faser for giving me this opportunity. I can wait for the up coming Milky Way season!
My last photo is tracked, stacked and blended. The shot was taken on El Tigre ridge on Santa Cruz Island in 15-20 mph winds (thank god for an awesome tripod). After I had taken the first exposure of the night, I knew immediately the color in this shot would be mind blowing because of the airglow and super dark skies. I thought the adventure would end with the wind, but there was more to come. Just as blue Hour was ending I turned to my friends and said “Hey we should relocate the trail head before it gets too dark.” They scoffed. Three skilled field biologists would surely never get lost. What could go wrong on knifes-edge ridge? It is worth noting that the trail was also hard to follow in daylight. After several hours of enjoying the dark sky we tried to head down. The route seemed pretty straight forward but blowing dust drastically reduced visibility (even with a good flashlight). After several failed attempts and fighting with our somewhat untrustworthy GPS we finally found the trail. It all goes to show that astrophotography will always be an adventure!

My first attempt at photographing the Orion Nebula, also known as M42. This nebula is also located in the Milky Way Galaxy making it the closest region of massive star formation to Earth at ~1300 light years away. It is estimated to be ~24 light years across and has a mass 2000x greater than the Sun.👽✨
Happy Friday! I hope you all are doing well! I haven’t painted for awhile but I’m happy to get back into it. Thanks so much for 20K! 🎉🎊🎉 Still can’t believe that many people enjoy my art! Keep a look out for a possible giveaway! 👀
