#tbt to Sunday when the struggle was real! There is a reason that they call this race The Decker Challenge. This photo is far from flattering but I love it because it proves to me that I pushed it, that I tried and left it all on the course for 13.1 miles!! 2 more races in the Austin Distance Challenge and 9 weeks until my second marathon. It's getting harder, more time consuming and more exciting. Run for yourself!
Happy feels! Today was a big day for many TAA athletes including the amazing Andrea White. Andrea struggled with IT Band Syndrome for almost her entire running life and was recently humble enough to ask for help from coach and now courageous in her efforts to trust the process and be patient. Today, Andrea tossed out her ITBS brace and she finally fully believes and is experiencing the benefits of training smart and executing well. She’ll have the occasional tightness after 2 hours on a long run. She recently logged a PR in month mileage AND a PR in week mileage. Get this! No stretching. No change in form. No strength training. No generic training plan. The solution: a custom training plan designed/monitored/adjusted by a professional, the right intensity/volume, science-backed work/rest ratio, appropriate gradual progressions, but most importantly a coachable, positive athlete with a focus and attention to detail that will lead to success in everything she does in life! Now, if only she’ll replace her running shoes with a million miles, take it one day at a time, and remember what got her here, stay locked in on execution, and HAVE FUN improving and catching goals.
ITBS is caused by bad training. Don’t fight the truth. Be honest, train the right way, and you will see for yourself.
Haters will say this is a made up story or it was luck. Nope and nope. Train smart or hobble around.

Still in awe at how stunning this city is. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it is also very friendly to run in. With clear open paths (espeically along river) and relatively free of people. But the absolute beauty of the buidlings here is just leaving me in a spell and I just wish I had more time here. Got one more run tomorrow so more than grateful for that! 🙏

🎶 Ain’t No Mountain High Enough! 😄😂🙌⛰👊
🎼 On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love game to me!🎵 No partridge but the countdown has begun and I want to share some of my favorite things this year... from beauty and fashion to fitness and food.
First up is my Aveda tinted moisturizer. It’s nice and light, covers just enough and leaves a nice soft glow for daily use. My favorite part is that is has sun protection - SPF 15.
It's been a stinker of a day so it was just as well I swapped my Long Run to today, I so needed that.
It's amazing how just an hour spent in awesome company chatting away the miles can completely transform your day.
I ran the last few miles home on my own reflecting on the day,
Taking in the pretty lights and remembering my legendary uncle who was taken suddenly from us a year ago today.
This run was for him ⭐️ #ru2c#runuptochristmas#longrun#star#reflection#memories

I did my last run two days ago. Right now I'm enjoying the luxury of two recovery days. Means my focus lies on absolutely doing nothing. Love it!✌😊

“The harder you work for something, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it.”
I remind myself of this every time the running gets tough 👌🏼
Coach @sandinypaver got me back doing “alactic” hill sprints (10-12 seconds). In a nod to coaches like Arthur Lydiard and Renato Canova and their philosophies, we have worked these elements into @sagerunning training plans and with certain athletes we coach. Much like plyomeyrics, short hill sprints and “strides” develop better form and power. They activate fast twitch muscle fibers (I needed this after ultras like UTMB!). My stride length and power had gotten sloppy over the summer, and raw speed has always been a weakness of mine (I’m pretty sure I actually have below average sprinting speed at 200m and under for athletic males around my age). Always warm up before any fast-high intensity Running and slowly work into closer to top speed as you don’t want to pull a muscle! @hokaoneone@julbousa@stravarun@drymaxsocks#sagerunning#anysurfaceanydistance#marathontraining
