I don't 'do' cardio specifically. And I don't take up my clients precious time doing cardio. Why? There is a massive misconception, especially amongst women, that 'cardio' is the key to weight loss and a sustainable body fat percentage, but actually I find that this to be quite the opposite. Doing moderate to long sessions of cardio actually has the potential to 'eat' into muscle and exhaust the body. For a toned, sustainably lean physique you MUST turn your attention to weight bearing activities that build muscle and raise metabolism. This alongside the correct nutrition 80/90 percent of the time, is the only way to sustainability long term, middle age and beyond.
When I did a lot of cardio, I was constantly tired, my weights sessions were much harder and my body was much more 'floppy'. My body shape is now more 'toned' since I've knocked the 'cardio' on the head. Adding more adequate rest is key to a healthy, strong body. You can achieve an amazing cardio vascular response by doing the right resistance work, and doing short sessions of high intensity interval training that challenges the big muscle groups. Weight training, yoga, martial arts and Pilates are the disciplines I use to keep myself in shape.
As women, we have far more challenges than men hormonally with regards to our training and nutritional needs. And this has to be taken seriously especially as we get older.
Sustainability is KEY for me. As a single mum, my time is limited and I don't want to spend my whole life in the gym. I don't want all my energy swallowed up by my training regime. I'm not interested in looking like a body builder, I just need to feel strong in my own skin. I want to train to live, not live to train. And although I LOVE my workouts and they are my therapy, they need to aid my life, not take it over. I train for 7 hours a week, but you can achieve a phenomenally healthy and strong physique on less.

The 80-20 rule and the red dress. Following this rule 💃🏽consistently 💃🏽 has been crucial in helping me fit into this unforgiving red hot number that I bought over a year ago but didn’t have the courage to wear.
80% of the time staying on track with progressive weight training, nutrition, mindful eating and sleep, while 20% of the time allowing myself a few leeways. .
When you think of your body as a bank account that you constantly deposit into until you reach a point when you can safely withdraw without causing a huge dent, you’ll be ready for any dress!

Sometimes we’re not even cognizant of the detrimental impact of stress in our life. We become so accustomed to living in an uproar that we’re not aware when our body is telling us that it’s on overload. The symptoms include illness, unusual fatigue, depression or anxiety, appetite and weight issues, addictions, sleep disorders, irritability, and a desire to withdraw from life.
By drawing this card, you are being asked to honor your body and soul by spending some quiet time alone- as soon as possible. This might mean going on a silent retreat; spending the day at a lake, beach or in the mountains; taking a hike; or visiting a day spa. You could even turn off your phone; put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door; and take an afternoon nap, a long bubble bath, meditate, or read your favorite book. Regardless of the form that your quiet time takes, the Divine just ask that you keep this promise to yourself without delay.
