Second time doing bulgarian split squats, I feel so unco doing them haha!
I've taken the last 3 days off to get over being sick and I'm feeling a lot better. I've still treated this week as a deload week so I didnt do too much at the gym and I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow for my 9 month post op appointment and I dont want to be too sore for that. Fingers crossed I get cleared for full contact drills! 🤞🤞🤞
[ Five Factors to Consider in Selecting an ACL reconstuction OP]
1. Allograft Vs Autograft
2. Patella tendon Vs Hamstring tendon (Auto)
3. Single bundle Vs Double bundle
4. Remnant preserving technique
5. Early Vs Delay ACL recon
ACL reconstruction OP
An Intraoperative view of a total knee arthroplasty or replacement!! Knee replacement, or knee arthroplasty, is a common operation done to relieve the pain and disability from degenerative arthritis, most commonly osteoarthritis, but other arthritides as well.
The surgery consists of replacing the diseased and painful joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee.
This, in fact, is considered a major surgery and involves exposure of the front of the knee, with detachment of part of the quadriceps muscle (specifically the vastus medialis) from the kneecap. The kneecap is displaced to one side of the joint allowing exposure of the distal end of the thighbone (femur) and the proximal end of the shinbone (tibia). The ends of these bones are then accurately cut to shape using cutting guides oriented to the long axis of the bones.
The cartilages and the anterior cruciate ligament are removed, but the collateral ligaments are preserved. Metal components are then impacted onto the bone or fixed using poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) cement. A round ended implant is used for the femur, mimicking the natural shape of the bone. A flattened or slightly dished high density polyethylene surface is then inserted onto the tibial component so that the weight is transferred metal to plastic not metal to metal. During the operation any deformities must be corrected, and the ligaments balanced so that the knee has a good range of movement and is stable.
In some cases the joint surface of the kneecap is also removed and replaced by a polyethylene button cemented to the kneecap.

“Oof!” Yeah... I neglected this for a little too long and I felt my knee today... The UBALL was made to feel like an elbow, and this certainly feels like an elbow digging into the knee... not nice now but will definitely help me later!
📝Squat, jump, hinge, lunge, run, change direction. That’s all rehab is. The difference between rehab and training: more attention paid to each individual stage, how to progress, etc.
🔩Rehab pros should have much larger strength & conditioning part in their education. Isn’t that what most our patients want to do? Get stronger, get more conditioned. Even when their goal is to reduce pain, strengthening and conditioning is still part of that.
☑️This idea isn’t specific to populations, ages, etc. Whether it’s grandma getting out of the car or an athlete increasing explosiveness, the principles are the same to improve human performance. Rehab is just careful training.
📚The difference is the ranges of motion, loading patterns, speed of movement, etc. Keep it simple.

#joelho#knee#cartilagem#artrose#protese

“My ACL story started when I was thirteen, in the fall of my eighth grade year. I was playing a pickup game with some guys in the neighborhood when I landed on my knee wrong, feeling it almost pop out of place. I was so scared and I prayed so much, but it turned out to be every athletes worst nightmare- a torn ACL and meniscus in my right knee.
It was so difficult in the moment to understand why this happened to me or how I was going to get through it. It has been a long road, but one thing I believe is that no matter what happens to you, there is always things that you CAN control. If you control all the things you can and work your hardest to return to doing the things you can’t, God will take care of the rest. —————
Focus on small milestones, celebrate each passing month after surgery, and do everything in your power to to improve yourself ANYWAY. ——————
For me as a basketball player, I spent a lot of time during my recovery and rehab trying to become a better dribbler and shooter. I dribbled in a chair and I learned to shoot without jumping, which made me a much better shooter by giving me a strong foundation. Stay positive and motivated through your knee surgery journey, and I hope I can inspire you in some way. Also, for basketball players, there are a couple chair dribbling workouts my dad put on YouTube to help you out💯 (Rich Beyer).”
