The topic of running slow to run fast has come up several times this past week; a few times in podcasts I listened to and speaking with my friend @jeph.runs.wincity today. I am learning to run by feel and listen to my breathing and I think I’m getting better at it, but there are still moments when I’m going way too fast for an easy run. Today I think I did a really good job at running easy!
How do you keep yourself from going out too quick on easy days?
Ridiculously early run for the second day in a row (with zero stops and a pleasing 145 ave HR) before the launch of my parkrun baby 😍 🌳parkrun makes me HAPPY! Massive launch (466 I think) ... hectic morning but we survived 😄 #iloveparkrun#irun4evan

W1D5 - an unplanned rest day. 💓
Lana Jo caught the stomach bug. A trip to the doctor and extra snuggles were the theme of the day. Thankfully she’s doing better. Fever broke and not hydrated. I sure hope Spring makes an early appearance! Germs be gone. 🌸
I’m excited for my first “long” run tomorrow. Even though it’s only 4 miles, I still get giddy. I might do some stretching tonight. But I’ll definitely get some hip/core work in tomorrow. 👊🏻
Happy Friday to you! 😊
first morning run in denver ✔️not sure if it was hard to breathe because i’m getting sick or because of the altitude 😕 either way, we’ve had a packed day for kd’s birthday! we had brunch at @snoozeameatery and went to the zoo and went to the denver central market🍦happy friday!
treadmill, dreadmill. this isn’t how you run 🏃🏻♀️ on this thang..?
oh, good, me either 😬. except in short bursts for lateral shuffles. this is the stuff that translates to my trail running adventures [thanks to Mother Nature, I haven’t been out there much lately, but, when the weather breaks, you know where i will be]. in the meantime, basement training it is. the kind that helps on the trails. trail running is what I like to call, total body running. you react to the trail in front of you-- sometimes that means modifying your gait, moving in a different direction, or doing something that much more resembles a hop than a run. whatever it is, you move with it. .
set the treadmill to a speed of 2.0 - 3.0 and shuffle - your calves, glutes, hips, quads and hamstrings will respond. and, you will be building agility for those outdoor adventures. or, at the least, making the dreadmill a little more exciting 😍🙌🏻.
