Mini vent about my natural hair: Whenever I straighten my real hair, I'm always reminded of why I don't straighten it.
First time flat ironing it in about 6 months. I prefer a hot comb, but don't know where mine is 😥
I just don't have the patience to abuse my fro.
I only did the bottom half. It took about 2 hours to detangle, blow dry and straighten.
I am amazed at how much my hair has grown. 😊I really want to go back to deep conditioning and hot oil treatments.
Just have to make the TIME.
Why did I go natural? My hair changed after becoming a mom. The thickness my hair had during pregnancy disappeared after birth. It started shedding really bad after a relaxer. I had gone natural a few times before, but this was the first time I really was fed up.
I transitioned to natural. I grew out my relaxer. I didn't do a big chop. I didn't even get a trim. The back broke off first. The top (leave out) was the last part to transition.
So this picture is about 3 1/2 years of growth.
GAH!!! I am so excited about THIS!
we started out at a reddish/brown in NOVEMBER and here we are three sessions in and we're BLONDE!! remember folks, this doesn't happen over night!! it takes time and I promise it'll be worth it!
✨3 REASONS WHY YOUR HAIR WONT GROW(RETAIN LENGTH)✨
1. Over-processing: Each time chemicals are added to the hair it compromises the hairs integrity and if chemicals such as hair dye bleach and relaxer are applied wrong or for too long the hair strands will suffer and eventually break off leading to short damaged hair.
2. Over manipulating: if the hair is put under tension constantly or you’re not as gentle as you should be when washing or detangling hair, it can lead to breakage and thin ends over time.
3. Excessive heat: too much heat will dry your curls out over time and it may even compromise your curl pattern! Heat may be ok once in a while but it can be very detrimental to your hair if used everyday or even once a week. It can cause thinning spilt ends and more which will leave you stuck at the same length. .
Your hair is in-fact growing but these are three things that may be stopping you from retaining the length that you are growing. If you find yourself doing any of these three things try and eliminate it from your hair regimen to start retaining that length! ❤️
