Jokes on you when you come down to @waltdisneyworld for a half marathon and end up running 26.2 🏃🏼💪🏼 // Here is the sappy story if you are thinking "How in the world did Alyssa run a marathon": my half was cancelled due to lightening storms. Clearly I was upset since this was my first large mileage race. #rundisney gave us three options for reimbursement, one of them being transfer to the full marathon today. I came all the way down to Disney for a race and after talking with Mama Dillon/@taramarie412, I signed up and prayed for the best (and that my longest run of 11 miles) could push me through.
With a 3:00AM wake up, 6:30AM start time, I somehow finished the 26.2 in under 6 hours.
I'd like to thank Mama Dillon for crying with me in Epcot right before I finished, the most supportive friends in the world (you know who you are), my adopted running group, Jesus for giving me pure mental strength, and my bros Chip and Dale for just being cute.

One and done... Now I'm walking around the apartment on some Michael Phelps ish... My phone died right after the race and I ended up not being able to charge it till I got home. It was pretty good despite the cramping from mile 18 to the very end at 26.2. I was on my way to my personal best but then my legs started locking up when I got to Manhattan. Still a sub 4-hour because I'm from Brooklyn and we don't play that, cramps or no cramps. I'll take it, this being my first formal/official marathon race. I learned a lot about what to do and what not to do from this experience.
Thank you to all the veterans that gave me good tips and advice. It really made a positive difference. I just have to be more professional about preparation. All-in-all I feel good. Can't wait to run this race even better in 2018!
