Currently trying to figure out he gardening situation for our teensy weensy patio. Also wondering what would happen if I started a garden plot in the park right beside our house...

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two. When you find the person you’re totally ok with eating takeout in your pjs with on Valentines Day and then folding laundry together, then you marry that person. Though there are some exciting, passionate, over-the-top displays of love that you and your spouse will enjoy together, you’ll be spending many more boring or even tough days sitting on the kitchen counter eating ice cream out the container together. Embrace love that will fill you up in the normal moments. (But @daviddmorse we didn’t exchange gifts at Christmas and last vday we didn’t do anything so maybe this year can be an exciting one??! 👍🏼👍🏼😏)

Acrylic, for dining room chairs, supes impractical for life with kids. Acrylic, for invitation suites, the prettiest thing in the whole wide world.

I’m not a crier. I didn’t cry when I got engaged, got married, had my babies, enter any other typical “crying moment”. But yet I’m the girl on the plane crying, sobbing actually. Wiping away tears. Hoping I don’t make that squealing noise from trying to hold my crying in.
I’m listening to The Happy Hour podcast with @jamieivey - definitely my favorite podcast of all time. So uplifting, so encouraging, so funny, so practical! And her guest @candacepayne who you probably know better as the woman behind the Chewbacca mask of the video that went viral a couple years ago.
She talks about how her video hit 210 MILLION views and how overnight she was getting calls from all the media outlets asking for interviews. And she talks about how she remembers the day after it went viral praying and thanking God for this moment. For not forgetting her. For writing her story, in His time. She was waiting for Him to give her, essentially, her big break.
I work hard. Really hard. I work really hard in my own strength. I feel immense pride knowing I have a six figure business that I built all by my damn self. There are very few nights where I’m not working after spending the whole day caring for my kids while also trying to keep up with emails and all the things that it takes to run a business.
I love my life, I do. I mean, I wouldn’t say no to a little more help in the childcare department (come to Maine with us nanny @maria.r.smith !!!). But the constant strategizing for how to grow my business, the constant “hustling” because that’s the only way you’ll make it or so the world will tell you, the constant brainstorming on what my next move will be is hard. It’s really hard to build your life in your own strength. And listening to Candice talk about how our only job in life, as I Peter 5:6 says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you”, was the reminder that I needed that I don’t control my life and me exhausting myself is silly. ...(continued in comments)

Yesterday my son spit in my coffee, today my other son put chewed up bacon in my coffee. And I still drank both cups. I think I may have just upped my mom level.
Hearing back to this spectacular state this weekend. Please don’t be freezing cold! 🤞🏼

Tip number five...I think 😬...Forget about the camera! I know it’s not super easy and it can feel awkward to be in front of the camera but try to just enjoy the moment that you’re having with your soon-to-be-spouse, bridal party, family members, etc. Your photographer will guide you when they need you to look at the camera or move a certain a way but when they’re not saying anything just enjoy each other! (Ie kiss, laugh, talk about your day so far, cry- I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE CRY!, talk about your pup, talk about how badly you want a burrito, and all the other normal couple conversations).
This is your wedding day and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest! Also, when you’re enjoying the moment it’s a lot easier for us to get you a lot of different images with different angles.

Find a photographer you can trust! There are so many reasons to find a photographer you 100% trust to capture all the details, big and small moments, the moments you knew you wanted and the ones you didn’t even know happened.
One of the reasons is that it makes you pre-wedding experience so much smoother. A photographer you can trust will know every photo that you want and will go above and beyond that so there’s no need for you to spend hours writing out long shot lists!! That means more time to stare at your ring and drink wine!
A trustworthy photographer will make your day-of experience flawless! You’ll be able to kick back and relax knowing that your day is being documented in the best way possible.
A trustworthy photographer will make your post-wedding day experience clear. You’ll know when your photos are due to you via your clearly laid out contract or in earlier communication.
And here’s how you find a trustworthy photographer... Read client reviews about the photographers you’re looking at, check out their portfolio and make sure their work is consistent, and see if the photographers you’re looking at are recommended by or work often with other vendors.

Tip numero 3...Have us come earlier rather than stay later. There are so many intimate moments that you’ll share with your best friends and family during those early moments of your wedding day. There are also a million details that you put a ton of time and money into (think invitation suite, rings, shoes, flowers, etc) that I want to document that can usually only be document in the early portion of the day.
Though dancing pictures at the reception are fun you really only need us there for a couple songs to grab some great shots of dancing. Plus, no one wants to see their awesome dance moves once they’re a few glasses in!😉
Go check out my story to see some of my favorite getting ready moments from this past year!
1 1063:12 PM Jan 17, 2018
Tip number two...Consider an unplugged ceremony. I’m sure you’ve seen the blog posts and videos that have been going around over the years about why you should have an unplugged ceremony, well, I’m here as the 100th voice!
I can’t tell you how many weddings I’ve shot where one of my photos (sometimes even at the really big moments) has been ruined because a guest has stuck their phone, camera, or iPad waaaaay up in the sky or in the center aisle to get that one perfect picture that we all know they’re going to Instagram once and then never look at again.
I’m all for guests using their phones during every other portion of the day but on the biggest part of your day maybe just ask them to be present rather than taking photos! I promise you won’t regret this decision!
8 1203:10 PM Jan 16, 2018
Today’s tip has to do with finding the right photographer for you...When looking at different wedding photographers make sure you don’t just look at their Instagram but also check out their portfolio online and you can even ask to see a full wedding gallery if you’re really interested in them. Instagram can be an exact representation of a photographers wedding work or sometimes it can be a highlight reel from styled shoots- which are beautiful and can help showcase a photographers talent but they also are set in perfect conditions.

There’s still something so pure and heartfelt and emotional and genuine about a bouquet of flowers that, even with all the advances of technology and the millions of ways we have to communicate with each other, flowers are still relevant in my opinion. Vanessa Diffenbaugh @theheirloombouquet
I DIY’d the boutonnières at our wedding. And let’s just say, they didn’t look quite as beautiful as these. 😬

I didn’t write “photographer” on my kindergarten “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up” paper. I actually entered photography with the hopes that it could be a side job I had so I could stay home with my future kids. I never had intentions to make it a career. But then I fell in love with weddings and working with couples. And after 8 years in I can’t imagine having a better job than this one! 📷 @kangellphotography

Goal of 2018: get a hobby that isn’t expensive (knock off the list: owning and operating a flower farm), that won’t get in the way of my work (knock off the list: hiking the 7 summits), and that wont make me gain a million pounds (knock off the list: pizza taster). 🙄 Taking suggestions.
