Balance can mean many things, for most of my life as an aggressive skater balance was crucial to the success of a trick. While I still bust a long, smooth grind from time to time the balance I seek now is different. Life has so many different parts and pieces that are all unique to everyone and we're all trying to figure out how to put them together and stand on the base we've created. Skating is a huge part of me but I'm striving to improve in other areas of life and carve out time for other personal pursuits and improvements. I could have skated longer but it was a little cold, my knees don't enjoy the cold and I just feel like I move slow. Still made the time to get a good skate in and now to be other types of productive on my day off.

Shoulder scan result.
The first of two scans in 24 hours (the one tomorrow is for my suspected umbilical hernia) has given me a result on what I may have done during my fall at the #birminghammarathon but no definitive answer. Which, after two consecutive practically sleepless nights through pain (just when I thought the pain was subsiding) is frustrating.
So what do I now know? Ultrasound uncovered a tear in my supraspinatus tendon, where about 9mm of the tendon has torn away from the bone. That’s a start, but apparently far from the answer according to the ultrasound technician, so after 3 months of pain I’m back in the system to get referred to a ‘specialist’ to establish what’s causing all of the other pain I’m getting and then to establish a recovery plan. I didn’t even have the energy to ask what that meant.
I think it’s ok to feel a little lost right now, but I know I’ll bounce back from this!

Early morning squat session before long sustained bike intervals this afternoon. Maintaining strong legs year round keeps my power on the bike high no matter the season.
:90 rest between sets
*must climb each set
