Tracks in the Snow, Traces of Life captured in Time.... That is me you don't see. Though I am in this photograph, I am not there. You only see the light I leave behind in my tracks through the snow. For once, I was faster. Faster than the camera. Forever invisible, and as Ive been told by several people throughout my life, I am not there. I am not here. I never am and I never was. Maybe that is true. Maybe I am emotionally, as cold as it was when I took this photograph of myself. Maybe I am as invisible to people as I am in this photograph. Maybe I pretend. Pretend to care. Pretend to be here. I did spend this night, my birthday, in the cold and in the dark, me and my camera. Silence my conversation, the dull crush of snow under my feet. The wind in my face, bitter cold and numbing. Winter. Lifeless and blue. My breath heavy and visible as I ran through the trees. That hurt in my lungs as they try not to freeze. I am still there, though you would never know from this photograph I was ever here.
The Road Ahead. It is usually around this time I begin to look back through the past year. Reflect on my experiences, my wins, my losses, my growth and misteps. Always a common theme of good mixed with bad. There has never been a year to date that has been overwhelmingly lopsided. Its grey, not black and white. A solution with a certain dilution of good times and bad. I am grateful for that. As good as good may seem, there is always bad and as bad as bad may seem there is always some good. I guess in life that is all we can hope for. My photography life has grown, bigger shows, more successes. Took home a juried ribbon from Wyoming, had my biggest one day success in terms of sales. I sat courtside in a major tennis tournament taking photos alongside photographers from ESPN and Sports Illustrated, all signs that the future is bright and only limited to my own ambitions. My personal life has been rocky at times. Ive lost friendships, strained friendships. People whom I thought would be in my life for the rest of my days. Now gone. But like an airport, as soon as someone departs, someone arrives and new friends are made. My children are doing well. Ive watched Reagan and Cora grow, enjoy successes in their young lives via school, sports and life experiences. Its the balance that counts. Staying even keel in the storms and steady when the wind is at your back. My life is far from perfect, but I am grateful for all, both good and bad. The Road Ahead. That is my road and I am ready to walk down it for sometime to come, God willing. Peace, Love, Music and Art my friends!

Oil on canvas
Only a few more days until my canvas arrive and I can finally get to work on a large scale again! Has anyone out there mastered a full time job while maintaining a full body of work? I'd love to hear how you're making it work! #localartist#cincinnatiartist#cincyartist#abstractart
