This concept was one of the most interesting ones this season for me. The idea of seeing what your child sees, to manipulate what he or she sees so that he or she isn't exposed to what you may consider inappropriate is a take on the shadow parenting that exists nowadays even with no tablets or chips, but of course this one is in 'Black Mirror' style. But before we get to see this mother become the control freak she turns out to be, we get two motivations for her actions, both when she lost or thought was going to lose her daughter. It was reasonable for her to be protective, so her first actions made sense, before it got progressively weirder and indefensible. I would've liked if the majority of the episode had centered on her infant daughter instead of the adolescent, I though it was more refreshing and that the subject was somewhat more provocative in that time. However, I really enjoyed it overall. There were some tense moments and I felt that Jodie Foster did a really good job directing this episode, while the cast was also great at their respective roles. What I liked more about 'Arkangel', though, was the ending. There's the big confrontation one would expect to see, an attitude of the mother that is so crazy it actually becomes a bit humorous when you reflect on it, and then there's the final shot of the daughter walking away. And that is the moment I loved. Because when you think about it you accompanied the journey of this girl from a distance, watched her moments of happiness, anger and feared for her, but once it was time to let her go without really knowing where she would end up and if she would be okay, we had to let her go. It's kind of like we were the normal parents in this episode, and I though that was a really nice touch, the way I interpreted it.
Raising questions about how much control a parent should have over his child, 'Arkangel' delivered what it set itself to offer, even though it could've been better. 7.7/10

Kabocha squash, broccoli, cilantro, and peanuts, all covered in a delicious, homemade mole sauce. Paired with it is Barista Pinotage and my third episode in a row of Doctor Who, the tenth Doctor. Such a relaxing Saturday evening :)
El Chapo |
Most know who El Chapo is, but this series follows El Chapo’s path into the business and ultimately the top of the drug boss food chain. If you’re a Narcos fan you’ll want to check this out.

#tonight's #tv#bingewatching#mrrobot Elliot: Oh, I don't know. Is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man, even when we knew he made billions off the backs of children? Or maybe it's that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit? The world itself's just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our running commentary of bullshit, masquerading as insight, our social media faking as intimacy. Or is it that we voted for this? Not with our rigged elections, but with our things, our property, our money. I'm not saying anything new. We all know why we do this, not because Hunger Games books makes us happy, but because we wanna be sedated. Because it's painful not to pretend, because we're cowards. Fuck #society.
Heimkino. ☺ #hyggelife#movieaddict#serienjunkie#heimkino
I don’t have the energy to properly human today, so I’m curling up on the couch with a comfort cocktail and a @sneakypetetv binge. “Being productive” sounds more like a Wednesday thing anyway. 😉
