“We’ve always been a true band. You won’t find one any truer. AC/DC will always be AC/DC. Sometimes we’ll do well, sometimes not so well, but the music of AC/DC will always be the same." ~Malcolm Young
(6 January 1953 – 18 November 2017)
Malcolm Young was an Australian musician and songwriter, best known as a co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter for the hard rock band AC/DC. Except for a brief absence in 1988, he was with the band from its November 1973 beginning until retiring in 2014 for health reasons. Young and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
Though his younger brother Angus is the more visible of the brothers, Malcolm was described as the driving force and the leader of the band. In 2014, he stated that despite his retirement from the band, AC/DC was determined to continue making music with his blessing. As the rhythm guitarist, he was responsible for the broad sweep of the band's sound, developing many of their guitar riffs and co-writing the band's material with Angus. He was married to Linda Young and had two children, Cara and Ross.
Young took a leave of absence from AC/DC in April 2014, to receive treatment for dementia. In September 2014, the band's management announced that he would be retiring permanently. Malcolm died on November 18, 2017 at 64.
Malcolm, you are finally at rest, surrounded by peace, completely healed, and I'm sure rocking the heavens. RIP Mate, thanks for rocking our worlds for 45 years.
“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.” – Audre Lorde
I’ve been through so many different phases in my life of rejecting the physical features of my ethnicity in order to conform to perceived beauty standards. I have spent too many hours (and dollars) straightening my hair in an effort to mimic the looks of the women presented to me in the media as being beautiful, usually based on the genetics of a race that I will just never look or be like naturally. It contributed to a lot of insecurities that I experienced growing up and is an absolute breading ground for an unhealthy mindset later on. This doesn’t just happen to those of colour - it happens to all of us - particularly when we try to strive for a body type that is completely against our genetic make up. Of course we should aim to change our body (and consequently our appearance) only IF it is currently out of harmony with our health, however what I do commonly see are women (and men) striving for a body that reflects the current ‘beauty standard’ regardless of whether it’s healthy or possible. I will absolutely never ever look like a tall and slim victoria secret model, I am short, islander, athletic and curly AF. Personally I think the BEST fitness and nutritional regime is the one that enhances your strengths and corrects your weaknesses IN THE CONTEXT OF HEALTH - not just aesthetics (or the #bikinibod). It’s totally fine to want abs, but please also remember that you can have abs and be unhealthy AF.
Embrace your diversity, not just for your own sanity, but as a healthy example for generations to come. .
ESSAY RANT MUCH?!?!
Ps. What is going on with my mummas ageing? I think she might be Joe Black. (Wow, Mumma, please excuse the pun). .
Starting to look like a framer’s shop here at the minute... Sydney show starts this week! 👏 #secretsydney

I've been busy working today. The trio have gone to granny and grandpa's for a sleep over 😍. I missed them already so have to face time them this afternoon 🤣. Will pick them up tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to kiss them. Will be a good little break for me but I will miss their cuddles and kisses so much 😭😍. Granny has taught them to say 'ta-da' which I got to hear on the phone before. They are learning so quickly... better watch what we say @owentripdad 😆. Mark's working tonight. He has a mon to fri job but when overtime is an option he takes it. Saving those $$ for my wedding dress which is a little more extragent than I expected 😂.
I'm shocked, Malcolm Young, my dear boy passed away. I do not have words to describe what I feel, he was very special to me, just like it was for many. He shone, conquered our hearts, a sweet boy who came to show the good side of life with his brother, but now he rests in peace. The only relief I have is the fact that he was beside the one he loves in his last moments. I love you so much Malcolm, now you shine in the sky, but you will never stop shining here, your energy will remain forever! Thank you for everything 💙 I LOVE YOU... #RIPMalcolmYoung#Rip#MalcolmYoung#ACDC#Legend#Guitarist#Rock#RocknRoll#Australian#Band#70s#80s#90s#00s#Eternity
