Book lovers and experts -- I need your advice. This is a First Edition of "Mrs. Adam's Letters" to her husband John Adams, 1840. There are no other 1st editions I found for sale online with which to compare, so it is very rare. Second editions I've seen listed from $250 to $1450. The front and rear covers are detached and the spine cover is missing. How do you think I should price the book?
A family in New York found a pretty bowl at a yard sale and paid $3 for it. This pretty bowl sat on their family’s mantle piece collecting dust, until they one day decided to have it appraised. It turns out this “pretty bowl” was a piece from China’s Northern Song dynasty, worth between $200,000 to $300,000. This “pretty bowl” eventually sold for $2.2 million to a British art dealer. One family’s trash became another family’s fortune. #antiques#antiqueappraisal
