Photography has been both glorified and condemned. It is omnipresent and almost real although it can never really be grasped. Photography is a breath of the Zeitgeist which alienate all of its precursor civilization.
Photography is a mystery-an enigmatic presence leaving a space for unlimited debate and possibilities which can absorb people in a dialectical process and landed in an unfamiliar discourse; terra incognita. It is a “comma” that is too early to be stopped fully.
Inspite of that, photography is not a ghost since it is possible to be placed in a frame of discourse for anybody who is trying to summarize its presence.
In this edition of Afternoon Tea, Mardohar Simanjuntak--who is relentlessly pursuing the thin line of photographic discourse through the aesthetic-philosophy point of view--will be present together with Henrycus Napitsunargo--who is well-experienced in both artistic and photographic practice. The two of them will try to present the complexity of photographic discourse; a new vocabulary for a paradoxical reality that never stops to awe the human beings.
