Post crossing two single root bridges and an iron rod bridge hanging loosely in the air; jumping from pebbles lying on a flowing stream while trying but failing to keep my shoes dry, passing a football ground made for a population less than 150, descending several steps collecting gorgeous dried out leaves on my way, discovering hidden waterfalls at surprise turns, walking through unkempt paths sometimes losing my way, climbing, stopping, panting yet climbing;
I finally heard it. And as I ran in the direction of the ferocious sound of water, I could see it.
Mighty as ever, untamed yet gorgeous.
The Rainbow Falls of Cherrapunji cascading from high up in the mountains creating a permanent rainbow as long as the sun is up in the sky.
What a magnificent setting it was. The air full of tiny water sprinkles to soothe you after a long walk, the surroundings gorging with the thunderous sound of the waterfall and the breathtaking view of the cascade flowing wild, dressed in an everlasting rainbow.
The Rainbow Falls, Nongriat Village, Cherrapunji.

I shall forever have an extremely special place in my heart for the North-East and more specifically, for Shillong.
You see, while most of the metropolitans are sweating it out, the easy going “Scotland of the East,” plays hide and seek with lots of rain and a little bit of sun.
I've spent many years there, completed my studies from Shillong, made many a friends & have a lot of memories of that beautiful place. Away from concrete skyscrapers and mundane malls, Shillong is nestled in the abode of clouds, Meghalaya, where the weather changes like the colorful canvas of an adolescent’s moods. Undulating pine trees, lush green hills, cascading waterfalls, meandering rivers and home to a myriad cultures, Shillong cradles you in love. 💕🤗
