Do not love half lovers
Do not entertain half friends
Do not indulge in works of the half talented
Do not live half a life and do not die a half death
If you choose silence, then be silent
When you speak, do so until you are finished
Do not silence yourself to say something
And do not speak to be silent
If you accept, then express it bluntly
Do not mask it
If you refuse then be clear about it
for an ambiguous refusal
is but a weak acceptance
Do not accept half a solution
Do not believe half truths
Do not dream half a dream
Do not fantasize about half hopes
Half a drink will not quench your thirst
Half a meal will not satiate your hunger
Half the way will get you no where
Half an idea will bear you no results
Your other half is not the one you love
It is you in another time yet in the same space
It is you when you are not
Half a life is a life you didn't live,
A word you have not said
A smile you postponed
A love you have not had
A friendship you did not know
To reach and not arrive
Work and not work
Attend only to be absent
What makes you a stranger to them closest to you
and they strangers to you
The half is a mere moment of inability
but you are able for you are not half a being
You are a whole that exists
to live a life not half a life
Gibran Khalil Gibran

#everydaycreativeatoz Day 13. M is for Macquarie, a word that appears in many Australian place and business names. So, what or who was Macquarie?
Lachlan Macquarie was Governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821. He is considered to be instrumental in transitioning NSW from a penal colony to a free settlement.
Some of his achievements were:
• Producing the first currency purely for circulation in Australia
• Formally adopting the name 'Australia' for the country
• Appointing emancipists (convicts who had served their term or received a pardon) to government positions
• Sponsoring exploration of the country
• Commissioning public works
• Creating Australia's first bank
Many places have been named in his honour. In Sydney we have the suburbs of Macquarie Fields and Macquarie Park. One of the main streets in Sydney is Macquarie Street. I shop at Macquarie Shopping Centre (their logo is pictured), which is near Macquarie University where the Macquarie Hospital, a teaching hospital, is located. I also offer a yoga course at Macquarie Community College.
And the list goes on. If you're interested, see the list in Wikipedia!

ΤΑ ΔΕΚΕΜΒΡΙΑΝΑ | the retreat of the Nazis in 1944 did not signal the end of conflict in Greece. With the arrival of British forces, the various resistance guerrilla movements from the political Left and Right agreed in principle to stand down and work together towards rebuilding the nation after World War II.
Amid widespread suspicion, the Greek King still in exile and connections between the largest guerrilla movement, EAM-ELAS and Soviet Russia, General Scobie (the head of the Allied forces in Greece at that time) announced an ultimatum for the general disarmament of all guerrilla forces by 10 December. EAM scheduled mass demonstrations in Athens on 3 December.
Demonstrators were shot upon by the Greek Police and Gendarmerie, leaving 28 protesters dead and 148 wounded, beginning a full-blown armed confrontation between EAM and the Government forces at first, and during the 2nd half of December, against the full blown British military forces.
