This year has been weird, but aren't they all? Don't we always get to December and think "well, glad this year's almost over." It's definitely been a tumultuous year that I wouldn't have gotten through without help, but I'm glad help was there when I needed it. From the people near me as I broke down on the desert floor to job hookups and listening to me rant while I lost my mind dealing with bed bugs. ⠀
Another year going by as I stare down a checked bag and two carry-ons I have to stuff Christmas gifts and clothes into for my yearly trip to NY. This time last year, I was prepping for my NYC trip after Christmas and booking myself to read at The Glove and mapping out my adventure. I was doing last minute prep with Kat and Poni for the Ghost Ship open mic at One of Us. This time last year, I had the same press to writer I have for decades, but no prospects. Our community was reeling from tragedy with another huge issue to deal with once the dust settled. ⠀
Last night, I checked my makeup on the street and was impressed. I'm no top model, but I like who I am and where I've found myself, finally. ⠀
It's been a long strange journey and "the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep."⠀

Stunning 1939 photograph of Clifton's at Christmastime! 'View showing crowds of people shopping on Broadway at Christmas as they walk past Clifton's Brookdale. Signs on the facade call this cafeteria the "worlds largest" and indicate that it is open "6 am to midnight" The first and second floor facades are open with diners visible past decorative wooden pieces. A Salvation Army bell ringer has set up in front of the restaurant.
Clifton's Brookdale Cafeteria, once part of a chain of 8 Clifton's restaurants founded in 1931 by Clifford Clinton. The name was created by combining "Clifford" and "Clinton" to produce "Clifton's". The design of the restaurants included exotic decor and facades that were "kitschy and theatrical". "Clifton's Brookdale" is the sole survivor of the multiple branches over 79 years. It is now known as "Clifton's Cafeteria" or more familiarly simply as "Clifton's".' Courtesy Water and Power Archives.

Guys I found my new favorite pizza spot. If you ever need to go to the BLOC in DTLA or you’re craving pizza you have to try this Tre Verde pizza. Kale, green onion, asparagus, red pepper flakes, parmigiano, and olive oil. Sounds strange?? Well strange is beautiful. No puns because pizza is serious business around here. 🍕but here’s a emoji because I’m weak. Also, don’t ask for ranch
